Is this house burning story for real, or just a rumor that's become so
commonplace it can be referenced in jokes? Is there any hard data?
Page 120, 1997 First Edition
Once, when my son was about two years old, he noticed that I, his momma,
did not have a penis; gasp! He grabbed himself, worrying aloud about
what happened to mine and would the same thing happen to his! Oh no!
Panic! I thought this remarkable, since he was not yet aware of his
penis as a "sexual organ" or a symbol of power and potency. Frankly, I
thought that at the tender age of two, the penis must be a navigation
and balance tool, boys are always holding on to it while they walk.
<snip paragraph about toddler girls' lack of interest in penes>
My next mother-toddler penis event was when my son first became aware of
an erection. He proudly came running out of the bathroom, pointing
excitedly at his penis and crowing, "Look, Mom, penis tricks!" He
thought it was wonderful that this thing changed sizes, sometimes
tickled when he was in an elevator, and generally felt good just to hold
when in the tub or going to sleep. I began to see how very central this
small (oops, don't mean to be insulting) percentage of a man's total
body was to his existence, well-being, and identity.
Maybe this is the reason Laura is looking for a new school for the
Derykizer. In those two paragraphs, look at all the cruel nicknames his
classmates can work with:
- Power and Potency
- Deryk the Navigator
- Balancing act
- Hold Tight
- Penis Tricks
- Crow-baby
' - Elevator man
- Tickle-me-Deryk
- In the tub or when asleep, how many different dicks you meet
- Smallcox
- Mother-toddler Penis Event
Maybe he can blame it on the sixties and his parents' interfaithless
marriage. Whaddaya say, think he's going to burn the new house down,
too?

I've looked for evidence and haven't found it. I first heard about it
while listening to the Tom Leykis show. He's usually very careful about
saying things that could get him sued. A Laurette once said that Deryk
started it by lighting a garbage can on fire when he was home from
school due to illness. I found it interesting because the poster was
defending Laura.
Although I'm inclined to believe it, I haven't added it to my web site
because I need better evidence.

Now all he needs is a warm place to put it.
Don't fool yourself, Laura, the boy is doing more than just holding it.
Shoot, can't have a date, he might as well dream one up and simulate it.
Plausible. Snake terrariums have those all-day heater rocks and dry

Now, it's time for some tough investigational research!
Is there a secretary in the house?
Is it because he is a boy, or that his mom is remotely conservative?

Nothing I said went "after Deryk." Just the opposite, I feel for the kid.
And please note that it's mommy dearest who is placing bunchkin on display,
not us. SHE talks about him coast to coast. SHE writes about his penis in
best-selling books. The one going "after Deryk" is the great exploitive
Lacquered One.

WHAT?!
Deryk isn't off limits because SHE holds him up to the lights! Chelsea
isn't off limits either but HER parents shield her from the light.
Hey if that nutbar is gonna talk about her son every day then he's fair
game.
She CHOSE this life and she CHOSE to bring her son into it. Now she
will face the consequences. Or is that crap only for the followers?
Dicky Dunn
the Laurettes disgust me more than she does
>WHAT?!
So let me get this straight. You think that Deryk is fair game
because his mom is a foolish bitch?
When you attack Deryk, you are attacking a boy who has never done
anything to put himself in the spotlight, and you are picking on
the helpless, defenseless and innocent.
>Dicky Dunn
>the Laurettes disgust me more than she does
Them's fight'n words, pal.
Ted - thinks Dicky is dumber than a stump if he thinks I'm a Laurette.
I guess he just happened to miss the whole "cheating partner not
telling their spouse" thing that has been going on here for the
past several days.
Good point, Ted. While I can't agree that Chelsea isn't used to advantage
for photo ops, I do give the Clintons credit for keeping her out of the
spotlight as much as they do, and because of this she gets only my sympathy.
Derryk however, has appeared on the air, with relish, from time to time.
He IS a major subject of discussion almost every day & the way he "turns out"
is a DIRECT reflection on the advice his mother gives others on how a child
should be raised to obtain an "acceptable " result. She uses HIM as an example
in some of her advice.
If we were in a forum where we knew he would be present, or that any of
his peers might frequent, you might have a point. However, given the status of
ARTD-L, the harm his mother does by using him in her program is infinitely
greater than anything we could do here, even if he by some microscopic chance
were able to read it!
Neutrodyne

I have a vision of us all still participating on this ng 15 years from now (
THAT's a scary, pathetic thought, isn't it?). We're discussing how Deryk has
turned out:
1. If he's a serial ax murderer, everyone will be clapping their hands in
glee, saying, "See, I told you so."
2. If he's a pretty normal individual who has committed fairly routine sins
during his growth and maturation, everyone will be clapping their hands in
glee, saying, "See, I told you so."
3. If he has made it through adolescence relatively unscathed by scandal,
graduated from college with honors, and is engaged to a nice Jewish girl,
everyone will be clapping their hands in glee, saying, "See, I told you so.
He's p-whipped by his mother."
4. If he has become a rabbi, everyone will be clapping their hands in glee,
saying, "See, I told you so. He's been brainwashed by his mother."
It would seem Deryk cannot avoid the "loser" label on this ng, no matter how he
turns out. But if the unthinkable does happen, if he just becomes a decent
young man, it will be inspite of his mother not because of her.
If anything, I think it is good that people point out what
DRL is doing by joking about how twisted Deryk will turn
out to be. Maybe jokes about that tragedy will anger some
people enough that they will boycott Dr.L or take some other action
that might make her think about what she is doing.
Sitting around complaining about people who feel the
same as you do about this tragedy but express it in humor
is no way to help anyone.
Like Neut says, I doubt Deryk will ever hear it from any of us here,
and I doubt that any of us would go to the length of making
fun of him where he might hear it.

I doubt it. What it will do is polarize things more than
they are now, and encourage Laurettes to ignore even more
fervently what the anti-DLers say. "Why should we believe
anything you say? You attack helpless children."
You folks are needlessly attacking an innocent boy to make
yourselves feel better.
Anyone not involved in that game can see it for what it is,
Childishness.
You folks are acting like schoolyard bullies.

Seems that most of you are unaware of the effect that a serious, intense
Yeshiva education has on a person. If he gets one, I think that will be
by far the greatest influence on his future.
So why'd you make this one in English?

So you won't be clapping your hands with glee "if he just

I'm not sure I'll go along with this last part. If we take everything we
happen to think we know about her and can say, "OK. It is all true." I still
don't think we can say she isn't a good mother. We don't really know what
goes on in her house and how the kid handles it. In all fairness, I think she
wants the best for him and does what she thinks is best.
