The former treasurer for the National Republican Congressional
Committee diverted hundreds of thousands of dollars -- and possibly as
much as $1 million -- of the organization's funds into his personal
accounts, GOP officials said yesterday, describing an alleged scheme
that could become one of the largest political frauds in recent
history.
For at least four years, Christopher J. Ward, who is under
investigation by the FBI, allegedly used wire transfers to funnel
money out of NRCC coffers and into other political committee accounts
he controlled as treasurer, NRCC leaders and lawyers said in their
first public statement since they turned the matter over to the FBI
six weeks ago.
"The evidence we have today indicated we have been deceived and
betrayed for a number of years by a highly respected and trusted
individual," said Rep. Tom Cole (R-Okla.), the NRCC chairman.

didn't get the memo that there is only one subject, Eliot Spitzer. Can
we blame Silda? Sorry, I'm only familiar with when Reagan was here.
Every other college girl was working as a masseuse. It was a different
type of prostitution, but it's not new. Reagan wasn't one of the
Johns, but some were well known. Their wives never let on when they
knew. Spitzer reminds me of a typical hetro power broker. If he can't
swing a deal he could go down for some financial scam or the Mann Act.
His psyche is interesting because this has been prevalent since before
before. And he was the law! His hypocrisy is obvious, and what does
that say about a society that is so slack at discussing this old
business? Supply and demand. Why isn't that business updated and
better regulated? Whatever happens to Spitzer, the same old situations
will go on.
The rich can order domestic help from other countries and keep control
of the man needs without having to use places like the Emperors Club.
That's another trend. The wives in the "domestic help" situations are
in more control. If you like to blame, blame those wives. They
appreciate servicing the man needs and can afford to out source. As
long as the help is 18 or older no one cares what it's like for a
servant. All the better when they don't speak English.
The doctor of physiology, Laura, says she is all about the children,
she'd want husbands and wives to think of the children. The Spitzer
girls even with the sins of their elders will probably do well in
time.
