Uniden 3500XLT band plans

Hello,

I have just purchased a uniden 3500XLT scanner and I am a little
confused about the band plans. It has 3 band plans, the default is
plan 1 but I have read the best plan is 3 for the UK. Could anyboby
please explain exacely what these plans are and why band plan 3 is
better for the UK?
