SongQuest is looking for YOUR songs!
While the official SongQuest songwriters are busy penning their
lyrics, CBC Radio 2 is giving YOU the opportunity to create and upload
your own musical masterpiece.
Write about any of the 13 chosen SongQuest locations…OR pick that
special spot in Canada that inspires you. Your song could end up
being discussed on air by songwriting experts – also known as CBC
Radio 2 hosts Tom Allen and Rich Terfry.

1. THE CURRENT:
Today on The Current…a look at the World Food Summit. Diplomats,
bureaucrats and activists are gathering in Rome today [Monday November
16] for the massive international symposium dedicated to eradicating
malnutrition. Their meeting comes as the number of hungry people in
the world has topped one billion for the first time. On today’s

This morning on Q… singer/actress Lea Salonga stops by Studio Q for an
interview and performance. The Filipina-American performer rose to
fame as the lead in the controversial Broadway musical Miss Saigon…and
has found continued success behind the scenes. In recent years
Salonga has been the singing voice of Disney animated heroines in
movies such as Mulan and Aladdin. On today’s show, she’ll talk about
breaking new ground for Asian stage actresses…and how her career has
made her a pop culture icon in her native Philippines.
Theatre sensation – and the singing voice of some of Disney’s most
beloved princesses – Lea Salonga joins Q with host Jian Ghomeshi…today

3. THE NEXT CHAPTER:
This week on The Next Chapter, host Shelagh Rogers pays tribute to
contemporary writers who report on life in and around borders -
particularly between Canada and the United States. On today’s program…
a conversation with memoirist Catherine Gildiner. She spent her teen
years in Buffalo, New York…where she moved after living near to
Niagara Falls. Gildiner wrote about that experience in her book Too
Close to the Falls…and her new memoir After the Falls deals with
leaving that border community behind. She’ll be on the program to
talk about how she focuses on different stages of her life in her
writing.

4. IDEAS IN THE AFTERNOON:
More than 150 years after the first Neanderthal was discovered,
scientists still can't agree on whether they were a separate species.
Over the years scientists have been excavating caves and using
advanced DNA sequencing techniques to try to understand them. Tonight
on IDEAS, producer Dave Redel continues his look into the pre-historic
mysteries of the Neanderthals…and as he finds out, knowing them is
really about knowing ourselves.
