This week on Living Out Loud… In 60 years running a family farm, Henry
Hawes saw all the big changes: horses replaced by tractors, people
replaced by machines, bulls replaced by artificial insemination, barn
dances replaced by new forms of entertainment like radio and TV. His
stories take us back to rural Ontario, starting around the time of the
First World War. Henry is wise and funny and he certainly has a
wonderful voice. But he also has a grandson who's a talented composer
who can make music with that voice in surprising and delightful ways.

7. CANADA LIVE:
Tonight on Canada Live…The Downchild Blues band started its career in
1969. 40 years later and the band has played thousands of gigs and
inspired hundreds of other Canadian blues bands, as well as being
known as the band that inspired Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi to form
The Blues Brothers. On their 40th anniversary, Downchild pulled out
all the stops for a national tour. Canada Live caught up with them at
their sold-out performance at Massey Hall. The concert features Master
of Ceremonies Dan Aykroyd and musical guests Colin Linden, Colin
James, Jonas, and the blues legend James Cotton.
