“An honest man here lies at rest
As e’er God with his image blest;
The friend of man, the friend of truth,
The friend of age, and guide of youth:
Few hearts like his, with virtue warm’d,
Few heads with knowledge so informed:
If there’s another world, he lives in bliss;
If there is none, he made the best of this.”
-Robert Burns, Epitaph on William Muir
Captain [USN Ret.] Carroll LeFon, known lately and widely as "Neptunus Lex" for his eponymous blog,
stepped into the clearing at the end of the path on Tuesday. Once an F-18 fighter pilot with more
than 4000 hours, an instructor at TOPGUN, he lived to fly, so he took a civilian contractor job
after retirement flying a jet to provide opposition forces training current Navy pilots. His last
landing ended badly.

His writing was some of the best I've read. He really was a warrior-philosopher-poet. Explore his
blog while it is still there, see for yourself. One of his last posts:
It’s funny how quickly you can go from “comfort zone” to “wrestling snakes” in this business.
