BOMBSHELL "Fixer" (2 songs): heavyish at times, with thick sounding
guitars and rough singing. [No Idea]

BRAID "I'm Afraid of Everything" (3 songs): Easily their best release
to date. Melodic, emotional, and tight. Excellent production. Very
sincere and beautiful. [Polyvinyl/Grand Theft Autumn]

BUGJUICE "Delouser e.p." (5 songs/red vinyl): poppy on the
rocks-shaken, not stirred. [Repellent]

CHURCH OF ASTRONAUTS (4 songs): Speedy, bassy death hardcore out of
Louisville. Let me tell ya, the singer sure can scream. Hand
screened covers that are some of the best I've ever seen. Plain yet
excellent. Expect big things from these guys. [Ghetto Defendant]

CRANKPIN "Showin' Some Skin" (2 songs): college rocky with semi gruff
vocals. [What Else?]

DAMAD s/t (6 songs): burly South Carolina political hardcore.
[Germination]

ELEGACY s/t (2 songs): Very well produced and radio friendly rock.
[Sunney Sindicut]

EXHALE "ITCHING, BURNING, IRRITATION" (3 songs): Very good punk
stuff with a hardcore tinge on the emo-side. Would you like a plate
of hashbrowns as well? [Sunney Sindicut]

FIFTEEN "Ain't Life a Drag" (3 songs): proving that they are indeed
hippies in punks' clothing, these are three slower, progressed songs;
one of which is a Hendrix cover. [Springbox]

GAUGE "Swing" (2 songs): super technical and melodic. emo punk from
Chicago... two of the best songs from one of the best bands to ever
break up. [Underdog]

GENERAL FOOLS "Pathetik Pik-Nik" (4 songs): stoppy and starty punk
that almost leaves me with a feeling of earlier firehose or minutemen
even. [Slow to Burn]

GIANTS CHAIR (2 songs): poppy emo-rock with good rhythm. delivering
some of that good rock that comes out of the Kansas City area, this
new 7" will make you beg for more. [Caulfield]

GUTTERSNIPE "A Dozen Large Organizations Which Control One's Fate" (2
songs): reminds me a bit of BACK OF DAVE, but that's just my opinion.
if you like start and stop kinda music with that emo feel, then this
is for you. [Divot]

HELLBENDER "Kickbutton" (3 songs): chapel hill type punk, with a
taste of the local poppy flavor, a bit heavy on the fancy guitar work.
[Oepidus]

HUMAN BEHAVIOUR s/t (7 songs): old school sxe hardcore from Germany.
[Honesty]

INTRO TO AIRLIFT (5 songs): Very 77', ala Crass of The Jam. This
also has a slight indie rawk feel to it. Raw and garagey. [Red Dawg]

JUMPKNUCKLE "pariah" (3 songs): One of the few bands that broke away
from the Champaign/Urbana, IL sound that is becoming so popular. Very
DC-ish. Unfortunately this is another band that is no longer with us,
but still lives on. [Subfusc]

JUNK "the FIRE of RETRIBUTION" (4 songs): Melodic, anthemy hardcore
from the Czech Republic. Lyrics in their native tongue, but
translated into English for us in the English speaking society. Very
socially aware music. [Day After Records]

KRAYONS "When All Else Fails" (4 songs): old school punk rock
[Lunch Bocks]

THE LEFTOVERS "A Few Days Difference" (4 songs): shakin' it up with
good, raw skapunk. [Inbred]

LESS THAN JAKE "Pez Kings" (4 songs): If OPIVY were better at ska,
then they'd probably sound like this. Good ska stuff mixed with a
little bit o' punk. [Toybox]

M-BLANKET "Seen it Coming" (5 songs): west coast (of canada), snot
flavored punk rock with a fun but coarse sound. [Slow to Burn]

NONCONFORMIST "Open Your Eyes" (7 songs): Hardcore with a twist o'
Megadeth from Finland. Lyrics are translated into English for the
Finnish impaired. [Punk Drunker!]

ODEEMA "Against Fascism" (7 songs): More fast paced Finnish
hardcore. [View Beyond]

OMAHA "the return as..." (2 songs): ex Collossus of the Fall members
make up Omaha. Post hardcore with distinguished vocals. One
instrumental that's a bit reminding of Quicksand. Recorded none other
than Bob Weston of Shellac fame. [Doghouse]

ONCE AGAIN "as the fire went out..." (2 songs): Screamy "for the
land and people" hardcore. Real good stuff. [Out Reach]

OVARYDOSE s/t (2 songs/burgundy vinyl): growling female slow and
sorta heavy punk rock. [Goldentone]

PANDORA'S LUNCHBOX s/t (3 songs): weird with an airy sort of guitar
and haunting vocals. [Shimmy Disc]

PLAYGROUND s/t (2 songs): super poppy and a little sappy. although i
haven't ever really listened to The Lemonheads, this is what i image
them to sound like. [Take a Day]

POWER TRIP "Don't Pet Me I'm Working" (6 songs/only 500 with this
cover): power trip certainly have power, and they have ska and they
have fruit loops. [Round Flat]

RADON s/t (4 songs): in its fifth pressing, this is a classic in its
own time. power/pop punk at its finest. [No Idea]

RAIL "Luke & Lauraland" (4 songs): I've heard them compared to J
Church, but I think more of Superchunk. Either way, it's all good.
matter of fact, if you like Superchunk, then just BUY THIS! quality
up-beat rock! [Red Dawg]

RUMPLE (3 songs): A bit laid back "old school" hardcore. A little
punk. Nice guitar with a slight metal tinge and well done vocals.
Good production. Psycho-rock is a good term. [Take Out The Trash]

SHINER "slightly polished" (4 songs): Slightly "unpolished"
production, so it's a bit raw. Rocky at times, hardcore a bit, but
with very emotional vocals. [Slow to Burn]

SLINKY "Overloaded" (4 songs): raw punk rock-sounds like it could've
come from the bay area in the late 80's/early 90's. [360 Spinout]

SINGLE FILE LINE s/t (2 songs): I love this. Almost in a way
reminds me of the old Statue band. I expect to hear parts of this in a
grocery store someday (it has a flute in it, you know.) [Bloodlink]

SNAPCASE "steps" (3 songs): Latest release from these Buffalo
hardcore gods. The highest production and packaging courtesy of
victory. Easily the best hardcore out there. [Victory]

SSB (6 songs): Fast and crusty with "almost" a jazzy feel. Pretty
old school. Let's circle pit mosh, dude! [Take Out The Trash]

SUPPORTING ACTRESS "An elegant tease with report." (3 songs): Destined
to become classic indie rock. Sort of in the same reign as your basic
Teen Beat band. Mark Robinson would be proud. [Kulprit Konnextion]

TETSUO 2nd 7" (2 songs): both songs in that super techy way of
theirs. on live, one studio song, both rock. math rock at it's
finest. imagine someone kicking you in the head as your finger is in
a light socket.... [Man With Gun]

TIRED FROM NOW ON s/t (4 songs): Kind of like old Nirvana with
better guitar parts and faster drumming, but still retaining the
sloppiness. [Pellgrant]

TURNKEY s/t (2 songs): loudish guitar-driven powerful emo that sort
of reminds me of Drive Like Jehu. [Freewill]

VANILLA s/t (4 songs): Musically, this is one of the best hardcore
bands that I have heard (on the all around scale, that is.) Fat,
screamy, and they got their shit down good. Not horribly tight, but
they are not sloppy. I believe that this is a french band, but all fo
the lyrics are sung in English. []

WHEN PUBERTY STRIKES "dropping off the kids" (5 songs): Fast paced
punk rock straight from Gainesville, Fl. Reminds me of some older
Lookout records stuff. [No Idea]

ZOINKS! "Sapsucker Sluggo * Brawler" (2 songs): [Satans Pimp]

V/A "What April Showers Bring" (4 songs): One song from each of the
following bands... In Ano, Failsafe, Barrel, and The Soviets. Man oh
man, the Barrel song sure rocks. Good hardcore compilation. [Ape]

V/A "An American Tragedy" (4 songs): This is a benefit comp for Judi
Barr, a prominent organizer of the Earth First! activist movement. 1
song from each of the 4 bands such as Dead Silence, Three Studies for
a Crucifixion, Watercolour, and Still Life. Pretty good hardcore
comp. Strong points are Watercolour and Still Life. [Diffusion]

V/A Compund Red/Sidekick Kato (2 songs): SK are slow, driving emo. A
bit on the drunk side I hear. CR deliver awesome post hardcore with
some driving, dancy, picked up melodies. [Clique]

V/A Bureau of the Glorious/Pivot (3 songs): Bureau of the Glorious is
comparable to Copper, while Pivot is just plain good rock music. A
good addition to your collection. [Sunney Sindicut]

V/A Ipecac/Opposition (3 songs): angry hardcore;opposition takes a
more technical view, while ipecac just wants to be loud and noisy.
[Figure Four]

V/A "Gainesville Ghetto Compilation" (4 songs): melodic punk done by
Four bands from Gainesville, FL. features: PASTEEATER, RADON,
WORDSWORTH, and DON'T BE ONE. More of the ever so large pop/punk
scene from Gainesville. Yet again, a good showing of what this scene
has to offer. [Lumilar]

V/A Misfit Heartbeat (2x7" 8 songs): 8 bands; great pop-punk with
PINHEAD GUNPOWDER, DELIGHTFUL LITTLE NOTHINGS, POT VALIANT,
WINONA RIDERS, ETC...(Take a Day/Iteration) $6 US and $10 world

V/A Mary Me/Hand to Mouth (4 songs): Mary Me lies on the early 90's
MTX pop punk side, but maybe a bit faster. Yeah, with that same
girl-song stuff too. HTM are more political than anything.... oh
yeah, they play poppy-punky-hardcore songs. [Take Out The Trash]

V/A "Three Way Split" (3 songs/red vinyl): three of Gainesville's
best on one 7". features: SPOKE (r.i.p.), LESS THAN JAKE, and
BOMBSHELL(r.i.p.). only 400 pressed.[Toybox]

V/A William Martyr 17/Plunger "The Golden Rule of Silence"(4 songs):
A good split 7" of two reged, screamy bands. [Spearfinger]

V/A "Le Garage (21/07/92 - 11/04/93)" (6 songs): A good showing of
what overseas hardcore is all about. Featuring SEA SHEPHERD, IVICH,
HUMAN ALERT, FINGER PRINT, ABOLITION. [Obbtination]

V/A THE PROBLEMATICS/SNOTTBOIY 77' (5 songs): real snotty punk done
in a good way. keeps me going, really... new snott punk just doesn't
seem right to hear, but both these bands do it in a really good way.
[Red Dawg/Probasco]

V/A SORRY EXCUSE VS. WIFE BEATER (5 songs): this has that garage rock
feel to it. a little snotty with that faced paced punk rock. could
just about be at home on Estrus records. [Obnoxious]

V/A Back of Dave/ Walker (3 songs): A wonderful piece of plastic
that showcases two of the midwests bests bands. Onepost-hardcore rock
band and one pop/punk band together on one piece of music that will
make you dance like mad. [Polyvynil Press]
