the cover painting by Peter Stevens for DIME DETECTIVE for April 1945.
the painting is approximately 13 x 18 in size, has been fully restored
and cleaned and framed and is stunning. Peter Stevens shared the art
duties for DD covers with Rafael De Soto and Stevens was known for his
action paintings while De Soto did more close ups of faces. Stevens
went on to become a well known mainstream painter for Saturday Evening
Post, and his artwork goes for lots and lots of money.
this is the last of four detective pulp covers I owned and was hanging
in my house for a number of years until it got squeezed off the wall by
a Finlay painting. It is quite spectacular.
If interested, I have a JPG of the pulp cover. The price is firm, and
is $5,000.
