Anyone here like to comment on the ideas of autonomy and looking for
the "good mother"
everywhere one goes? It's fascinating when people haven't
internalized the completion of
the maturity it takes to form a good "self object"and they are looking
to others for a type
of nurturing role that the others should not be liable to give them.
Good books on this subject
are "The Psychotherapy of the Submerged Personality" by Wolf and
Kutash, and "Psychoanalysis of Developmental Arrests: Theory and
Treatment" by Robert Stolorow.
