True, Uncle Dennis, a bigger question is if it's the Will Dockery of
the movie or the dream in the mirror, or the other Will Dockery that's
reflected into my art and doubled back here?

Narcissistic Personality Disorder
American Description
Diagnostic Criteria
A pervasive pattern of grandiosity (in fantasy or behavior), need for
admiration, and lack of empathy, beginning by early adulthood and
present in a variety of contexts, as indicated by five (or more) of
the following:
1. has a grandiose sense of self-importance (e.g., exaggerates
achievements and talents, expects to be recognized as superior without
commensurate achievements)
2. is preoccupied with fantasies of unlimited success, power,
brilliance, beauty, or ideal love
3. believes that he or she is "special" and unique and can only be
understood by, or should associate with, other special or high-status
people (or institutions)
4. requires excessive admiration
5. has a sense of entitlement, i.e., unreasonable expectations of
especially favorable treatment or automatic compliance with his or her
expectations
6. is interpersonally exploitative, i.e., takes advantage of others
to achieve his or her own ends
7. lacks empathy: is unwilling to recognize or identify with the
feelings and needs of others
8. is often envious of others or believes that others are envious
of him or her
9. shows arrogant, haughty behaviors or attitudes
dockery.

more dockery.

even more dockery.

and if he doesn't get it, he creates delusions that help him convince himself
that he is admired when clearly he's not. that's dockery.

dockery to a T.

like his ex-wife and family. i'm sure before his ex wised up and dumped his
drunken cracker-ass what dockery wanted was the most important thing in the
family. that's why she's an ex.

HEH! so completely dockery that it's amusing.

shocks me about him is how little he does know.
very good, Mr. Gary.

if we were caring and concerned human beings we'd try an assist dockery into
realizing how sick he really is. perhaps even suggest that he be committed to
some alcoholic rehab clinic so he could get some real help.
but if we did that, what would have to laugh at?
so, it's a good thing that we're not caring and concerned human beings, huh?

Did you write this yourself, or did you borrow it? If you /did/ borrow it,
you should give a credit and/or a link, y'know... if you /did/ write it,
though... pretty good!
> A pervasive pattern of grandiosity (in fantasy or behavior),
Yeah, that's my style, in art and life. I like things done on a grand,
sweeping scale, and admire others with these leanings. That's why guys like
you that don't seem to do much of anything bore me, at best. This is the
best thing you've done since I first encountered you, Gamble... too bad you
probably didn't even write it.
> need for admiration,
I can't say I have a particular /need/ for admiration, though, no more than
any other human, at least. I do have a /need/ to create my work, and never
work in a vacume... I don't feel a poem, or any other work of art is
/complete/ until it's put out into public for an audience. Obviously, if I
had a /need/ for "admiration", I'd have blown this scene long ago for some
group of back patter type. I enjoy a good fight, and more often than not
your gang provides this... in spades.
> and lack of empathy,
Can't agree with this one, much... I'm quite the empath, as reflected in
many of my songs and poems.
> beginning by early adulthood and
> present in a variety of contexts, as indicated by five (or more) of
> the following:
>
> 1. has a grandiose sense of self-importance (e.g., exaggerates
> achievements and talents,
I'm confident in my powers as an artist, and certainly the creation of these
works thrills me to no end, and, yeah, I've been known to work my own
publicity campaigns and can play the Funky Flashman when the need arises,
something I picked up at least as early as my childhood readings of Marvel
Comix, as well as movie and rock music advertisments, interviews, et cetera.
That's me, and I'll easily go with this one.
> expects to be recognized as superior without commensurate
> achievements)
Here, it flows away from being an accurate description of "Will Dockery", as
my achievements are legion in art music and poetry, as well as comedy,
performance art, and many other areas... and the fact is that I /am/
superior to the gaggle of jeering, do-nothing, no talent hecklers on the
poetry newsgroups, many of which don't even /write poetry/.
I've got the goods... sorry if that hurts your collective feelings.
> 2. is preoccupied with fantasies of unlimited success, power,
> brilliance, beauty, or ideal love
None of these apply to me... I work a simple job for some cash to live on,
not that interested in "power", as I've got enough to get what I need done,
"I held beauty on my knee and found her bitter", thus love is not
particularly interesting to me, these days... which has influenced the newer
poetry in a positive direction: less soap-opera-confessional-navel-gazing
work in the upcoming works in progress.
> 3. believes that he or she is "special" and unique
Heh! Well that's the facts, Jack! My art /is/ completely original, as the
arguments with my groupie on this very thread yesterday made clear. I'm the
best at what I /do/, which is being "Will Dockery", and every move I make is
performance art... got a problem with that? Well that ain't /my/ problem.
> and can only be
> understood by, or should associate with, other special or high-status
> people (or institutions)
This is not me, as anyone that knows me either here on Usenet /or/ real life
can easily see. As JRS is so fond of pointing out endlessly: I'm a man of
very simple tastes, and like it that way.
> 4. requires excessive admiration
I enjoy a good fight, and more often than not
your gang provides this... in spades.
> 5. has a sense of entitlement, i.e., unreasonable expectations of
> especially favorable treatment or automatic compliance with his or her
> expectations
Not at all. I do what I do, and the audience can take it or leave it... the
bottom line is that I create the art for /myself/ first, and if /I/ like it,
out it goes... to the public.
I make the art that works, and will continue to until I drop.
> 6. is interpersonally exploitative, i.e., takes advantage of others
> to achieve his or her own ends
I'm a "people person", and it takes people sometimes to make certain things
/happen/... but I don't "exploit" anything except talent, from which
everyone wins in the end. For example, collaborating with musicians, et
cetera.
> 7. lacks empathy: is unwilling to recognize or identify with the
> feelings and needs of others
Can't agree with this one, much... I'm quite the empath, as reflected in
many of my songs and poems.
> 8. is often envious of others
Never. I'm content with my work and encourage everyone to create. In fact
I'm often disgusted with the agenda of others on the poetry newsgroups to
try to drive away newcomers, and to stifle the creativity of the other
poets, notably in my case, for example.
> or believes that others are envious of him or her
Heh. Have to admit that I /do/ see a bit of /that/ from time-to-time... it
could even be speculated that this very post by Gary Gamble is an example of
that, since he's a burned out gasfly that hasn't actually written, or at
least /posted/ a poem in these parts in a very long time. In fact, as I
wrote earlier, this post [which he may not have even written] is the most
I've /ever/ seen the boy do.
> 9. shows arrogant, haughty behaviors or attitudes
Arrogant, Hell yes. Haughty? Never in my life.
Good show, Gamble... got more? How about an actual poem now?

'Grand and Sweeping'? Bumpkinbrush, Alabama? On a 56k
dial-up in some bar's backroom, advertizing (hehehe) to your
vast UseNet fan base? Oh yeah, Grand AND Sweeping! That's
it, Willie! Take another slug of that spiked coffee. Ready now?
Good. Now, Willie, pick up that pile of flyers meant for all the
cars' and SUVs' windshields in the Giant Eagle's parking lot and
remember to get 'em UNDER the wiper blades this time, OK?
Last time, first gusty breeze, they were all over the asphalt,
remember? Talk about your grand sweeping.
-blue
There's a section in this post where I discuss just this, Blue, and put this
whole /armchair diagnosis/ to the lie... I'm a simple man with simple
tastes, and though obviously "grand and sweeping", have an almost complete
lack of pretentions... I do what I do, and waste little time with gratuitous
insults and jeers like the ones you're so fond of.
Dig your hat, though.
Beau Blue: your "arrogant and haughty behavior" is noted... wonder how many
other descriptions on the list fits you?
perhaps because you can't afford any other tastes but the simple.
or, your intellect is so limited that simple tastes are the ONLY tastes you're
capable of having?
>and though obviously "grand and sweeping", have an almost complete
>lack of pretentions... I do what I do, and waste little time with gratuitous
>insults and jeers like the ones you're so fond of.
then why were you making fun of the way people looked? you've done this dozens
and dozens of times? you're just as guilty of jeering as anyone in this
newsgroup.
you're a liar, dockery. i don't know if you're a liar on purpose, because you
can't stand to tell the truth, or you lie because you're so drunk most of the
time you rarely remember anything from one day to the next.
>Beau Blue: your "arrogant and haughty behavior" is noted... wonder how many
>other descriptions on the list fits you?
since you've never read any of his poems, you wouldn't know whether he was
justified in being "haughty" or not?
and you have a new category, right, dockery? if someone thinks your unspeakable
shit is unspeakable shit, then they're arrogant and haughty, right?
You're still in a tizzy, junior.
So? I'm just a country boy. Give me some pinto beans and cornbread and I
call it good eatin'.
Do your own thing, why so concerened over how I live?
> or, your intellect is so limited that simple tastes are the ONLY tastes
you're

I'll let you be the judge, since you'll no doubt do that anyhow. This
attitude of yours is one of the symptoms on Gamble's list, I'm sure you're
smart enough to notice, right..? A couple, actually.

I've read several, plus listened to some of his music, most of which I think
is pretty good.
He has as much a right to be what he wants as anyone else, though.

Just call 'em as I see 'em, JRS. Just as you do.
Give him about 20 minutes. I predict he'll be onto his "You're a drunk,
Dockery!" mantra, and in full pitch hissy-fit mode by then.

I see little different about your site, or poetry.
Some slight, but you are hardly /fine art/ when
set on the mantle with Will.
I suppose a rat's nest wouldn't be complete...

Don't miss the Monarchs at Natural Bridges, blue.
Talk about your grand sweeping.
It is one of the wonders of the world.
the problem is, dockery, you think this as far as anyone needs to go to call it
"good eatin'" all you know about food, and everything really, is from your
limited experience and knowledge. that's why you're so contemptuous of anyone
with more knowledge than you (which is practically everyone), because deep down
you know you're just an ignorant dweeb and don't know, and don't care, to
explore past what little you know.
it's why your contemptuous of education, contemptuous of any complexity, because
you don't know very much and act like you do.
do you want to know why people make fun of you, dockery? because you act as if
you're enlightened and you really don't know very much at all. and people like
prodding you into displaying your ignorance. and you're so insecure about your
own limitations that you can't resist responding when people poke at you, and
make you show everyone how really ignorant you are.
deep down you know this, you know why people make fun of you. if you ever had
the guts to admit how limited you really I think you’d be surprised how much
good would come of it.
but you won't. that would require too much work.
You don't like pintos and cornbread? Eat what you like... that's what I do.

As I wrote, you're a: "whining jeering heckler", period. Add to that
your pathetic obsession with all things Will Dockery and the picture of
the little man named J.R. Sherman is complete.
The qustion /why?/ is easily answered: you're not /good enough/ at
anything else but to be a lovestruck and bitter groupie, sniffing
behind my posts.
You /claim/ you've written poetry, yet remain too shy or ashamed to
actually post anything on Usenet... sad, so fucken sad.
I'll always be here for you to lean on, JRS... every gimp needs a
crutch, a reason to /be/.
we''re hoping dockery might get to stage three and realize what he makes is
shit, and that he needs to improve.
it probably won't happen. if he actually admitted that his work sucked badly, he
might have to admit that his life has pretty much been a waste.

You speak of "processing grief, by /man/" ...hardly "truth"
I mostly agree with their mockery.
Just that most of the supposed /Icons/ can't raise
a flea from a smilin cat.
(let alone get someone to pay them for their /poetry/ talent)
There is always Usenet.
JRS and the rest of his gang have found a comfortable rut as jeering
hecklers... it's safe and easy, so who can really blame them.
I'm compelled to push forward, and /that/ is /my/ comfort zone.
yes I know your eminence..
you will be severly beaten for your indiscretions, you know this don't
you.
si, I do.
then why do you persist in promoting such vitilolic folly
your eminence. Galileo responds.. There was once scorpion seeking a way
across the river, and this scorpion employed this turtle to assist him
in his adventures.
The turtle had only gotten half way across the river when the scorpion
bit him too which the turtle proclaimed, Fool you have killed us both,
But Why?
the scorpion answered "I cannot help it senor, it is my nature!"
and this you excellnecy is all I can say towards these accusations you
now lay against my house.
And so like the four frogs traveling down the river on the one log,
gallileo was tossed from the log and thrown into the river.
the other 3 frogs spitting in contempt at the flotsam they had
jettisoned from their company.
to which I say, "So What!" eh.
You've just read JRS /shit/.
It never changes, so what you see is what you get... literally, since he
never bothers to write a poem or anything.

your hyprocrisy is also why everything you do sucks.
"pushing forward," what a joke.

works that comes from a mind that explores much.

still more clever and better written than anything YOU'VE ever displayed here.

Talk about /limited/... not to mention more than a little hypocritical.

Compared to my life and works I'm sorry to say you're /already/ dead.
You stole my line.
I found it. It was terrible.
sort of puts a lie to your laughable theory that you're always original.
but seriously, is there anyone, besides you, who thinks that what you produce is

anyone at all?
do tell, hyprocrite.
you're lying, dockery. you would have posted it here.

Did you write this yourself, or did you borrow it? If you /did/ borrow
it, you should give a credit and/or a link, y'know... if you /did/
write it, though... pretty good!
> A pervasive pattern of grandiosity (in fantasy or behavior),
Yeah, that's my style, in art and life. I like things done on a grand,
sweeping scale, and admire others with these leanings. That's why guys
like you that don't seem to do much of anything bore me, at best. This
is the best thing you've done since I first encountered you, Gamble...
too bad you probably didn't even write it.
> need for admiration,
I can't say I have a particular /need/ for admiration, though, no more
than any other human, at least. I do have a /need/ to create my work,
and never work in a vacume... I don't feel a poem, or any other work of
art is /complete/ until it's put out into public for an audience.
Obviously, if I had a /need/ for "admiration", I'd have blown this
scene long ago for some group of back patter type. I enjoy a good
fight, and more often than not your gang provides this... in spades.
> and lack of empathy,
Can't agree with this one, much... I'm quite the empath, as reflected
in many of my songs and poems.

I'm confident in my powers as an artist, and certainly the creation of
these works thrills me to no end, and, yeah, I've been known to work my
own publicity campaigns and can play the Funky Flashman when the need
arises, something I picked up at least as early as my childhood
readings of Marvel Comix, as well as movie and rock music
advertisments, interviews, et cetera. That's me, and I'll easily go
with this one.
> expects to be recognized as superior without commensurate
> achievements)
Here, it flows away from being an accurate description of "Will
Dockery", as my achievements are legion in art music and poetry, as
well as comedy, performance art, and many other areas... and the fact
is that I /am/ superior to the gaggle of jerring, do-nothing, no talent
hecklers on the poetry newsgroups, many of which don't even /write
poetry/.
I've got the goods... sorry if that hurts your collective feelings.
> 2. is preoccupied with fantasies of unlimited success, power,
> brilliance, beauty, or ideal love
None of these apply to me... I work a simple job for some cash to live
on, not that interested in "power", as I've got enough to get what I
need done, "I held beauty on my knee and found her bitter", thus love
is not particularly interesting to me, these days... which has
influenced the newer poetry in a positive direction: less
soap-opera-confessional-navel-gazing work in the upcoming works in
progress.
> 3. believes that he or she is "special" and unique
Heh! Well that's the facts, Jack! My art /is/ completely original, as
the arguments with my groupie on this very thread yesterday made clear.
I'm the best at what I /do/, which is being "Will Dockery", and every
move I make is performance art... got a problem with that? Well that
ain't /my/ problem.
> and can only be
> understood by, or should associate with, other special or high-status
> people (or institutions)
This is not me, as anyone that knows me either here on Usenet /or/ real
life can easily see. As JRS is so fond of pointing out endlessly: I'm a
man of very simple tastes, and like it that way.
> 4. requires excessive admiration
I enjoy a good
fight, and more often than not your gang provides this... in spades.
> 5. has a sense of entitlement, i.e., unreasonable expectations of
> especially favorable treatment or automatic compliance with his or her
> expectations
Not at all. I do what I do, and the audience can take it or leave it...
the bottom line is that I create the art for /myself/ first, and if /I/
like it, out it goes... to the public.
I make the art that works, and will continue to until I drop.
> 6. is interpersonally exploitative, i.e., takes advantage of others
> to achieve his or her own ends
I'm a "people person", and it takes people sometimes to make certain
things /happen/... but I don't "exploit" anything except talent, from
which everyone wins in the end. For example, collaborating with
musicians, et cetera.
> 7. lacks empathy: is unwilling to recognize or identify with the
> feelings and needs of others
Can't agree with this one, much... I'm quite the empath, as reflected
in many of my songs and poems.
> 8. is often envious of others
Never. I'm content with my work and encourage everyone to create. In
fact I'm often disgusted with the agenda of others on the poetry
newsgroups to try to drive away newcomers, and to stifle the creativity
of the other poets, notably in my case, for example.
> or believes that others are envious of him or her
Heh. Have to admit that I /do/ see a bit of /that/ from time-to-time...
it could even be speculated that this very post by Gary Gamble is an
example of that, since he's a burned out gasfly that hasn't actually
written, or at least /posted/ a poem in these parts in a very long
time. In fact, as I wrote earlier, this post [which he may not have
even written] is the most I've /ever/ seen the boy do.
> 9. shows arrogant, haughty behaviors or attitudes
Arrogant, Hell yes. Haughty? Never in my life.
Good show, Gamble... got more? How about an actual poem now?
If they ever get around to Hurricane Tom, it wil undoubtedly be a very
small shit storm which blows over an old lady coming back from the
grocery store and steals her security diapers.

Surely there's someone. A lusty
redhead, maybe, into being entertained
with Dickel-tickle and shrooms,
groans into microphones that MIGHT
be mating rituals? If her glasses
are thick enough and she's deaf?
She might buy it.
Nah, not even then.
How about his buddies at the pool table.
Maybe one of them? If they're not jealous,
that is, of his skill with his McDermott,
one of 'em might say they like garble-groaning,
spaz-dancing, 'simple' men twitching.
With one more toke, certainly?
Nah, not even then.
I know. The ol' guy on Water Street,
the one with the hearing aids and the drool cup.
HE'S always said nice things about Willie's
'Art', hasn't he? Tho', he does mumble,
so there's no telling what he's REALLY saying.
And they do sound and look alike, so he'd
be disqualified, wouldn't he? So, then nah,
not even him.
People close to suicide? Maybe them? Those
that count the seconds 'til the end of the world,
they would like Willie's caterwaulings, right?
For no other reason than to fill those last seconds
with extra agony and unbearable pain. Right?
Nah, not even them.

"Grandiosity" is not "grand," darlin'. It's posturing around a
mudpie, insisting that /everybody/ Get With The Tea Party. There's
usually more than a little of, "...Or We Are Not Amused" in the demand.

Whereas an /artist/ works alone, before a blank sheet, in an empty
room with the door shut.
The "need for admiration" is the need for everybody you meet to
complete the work /for/ you, i.e., to complete /you/.
> Obviously, if I

"Admiration" is PC Politeness; the older term, come to think of it,
was "recognition."
I.e., that you even exist.
And whether we carefully step on you or carefully avoid you to
preserve the shoeshine, we /do/ "recognise" you.
In the "Real" world, nobody'd slow down until they had the
fillin'-station feller wipe you off the windscreen.

Your many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many,
many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many,
many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many,
many, many "songs" and "powurrrrp," ah, "PO-wems" uniformly reflect
an autistim that has all the empathy of a Pet Rock (actaully a
hallmark of psychopathy before narcissism).
I.e., they are all about inexplicable Colors and Noises that You,
You, You, You happen to be having at the moment.
This includes those goddam' Colors And Noises that Won't Follow
Your Orders and those goddam' Colors And Noises that Won't Pay
Attention To You.
Death Or Exile to all such Colors And Noises.
Because /none/ of them are up to your Level Of *Feeling*.
"Empathy" for many, many, many, many songs and pomes?
/You/ are the little boy who has got the "1000 sonnets" Tommy
accuses me of, down to 800, down to 600.
Hell, to hear you tell it, you're the only one who poasts Real
*Felling* Songs And Pomes around here at all, mostly about the
*angst* of finding salt on the toilet rim shortly after you manage to
wake up.

Theft is not "collaboration." Thank Bog you're too yellow to do a
lot of that, since among the Real World, you'd be punched off stage
for it.
Fortunately, nobody "Real" recognises it after you've smeared
enough of your own shit all over it.

An actual pome, or just quoting from Austen's /Hauteur and Bias/?
___________
Jesus H. Christ, Dorkery, just as the successful artist is his own
worst critic, the successful PO-met is his own most-demanding
psychologist; psychology is the /substance/ of PO-wetry.
Hell, it's the substance of /all/ art.
But since words are mind-altering chemicals, the connection with
PO-wetry is rather more direct.
Certainly not you?
If that was an attempt to impress you need

Actually, there's a simple protocol for determining the difference
between an ape (usually a chimp) and a monkey.
Give a monkey a mirror, and he'll go stark, staring mad trying to
find the Monkey On The Other Side Of The Glass. Either he smashes it
or sits gibbering in the farthest corner from it.
A chimp takes about ten minutes to determine that the Moving
Colors in the mirror are /his own/, and another ten to figure out the
reversal and start grooming himself in it.

Because there is no place in the discourse (no Rule, no face of the
Zwicky Box) from which he can jeer the dimension of their
/intentional/ productions, so he falls back on "blaming" them for
being "not-same" in an ordinate that's entirely God's fault.
It's the old Chicken-Spot Trick, 99.
And if God didn't spot 'em, he'll paint one on 'em hisself.

Havinng discovered that priests lie (it's their psychological and
social function, which they /can/ abuse the way Dockery abuses /his/
audiences, but he doesn't know that either), he's decided that he can
acquire their Status by copying the most-obvious bit of their Role.
(I've had one of these under "close" observation for 19 years, and
a rump platoon under "average" observation almost all my life.)
He fails, always, and simply because priesthood (Laureatecy) is
/conferred/.

"...by copying the most-obvious bit of their Role."
You got it.
There's a psychological Laureatecy (as happens to all other
masterable disciplines), but psychologists don't compete for it any
more than poets compete for the Poet Laureatecy.
Because Laureatecy is conferred by the congregation's plinking his
Plate, the Laureatecy is conferred by children -- for agreeing with
the children.
Eh?
/Mommy/ Said.
"...and children shall lead them, and mothers with children shall
rule them, and they shall call it the Gloryatecy of Zion." -- Isaiah
Or Daddy goes from sleeping in his own bed to sleeping on the
couch to sleeping in the doghouse to sleeping in the street.
Because Mommy's "law" Laureate Said.
And he /also/ Said that Daddy had better keep the Heating BillZ
paid in his former residence, too, by God.
Mommy Said, so her Laureate had better Said, too.
Or no Plink.
A.s. upthread, the Priesthood (Laureatecy) /can/ abuse the office,
and we note that the Supreme Laureate recently Said that they will in
fact give Title in Mommy's House to whomever Plinks their Plates hardest.
Pretty difficult to prove that the Inquisitor is an Heretic.
Esp. in the Inquisitor's "own" Court.
But not impossible.

"Give"? I thot Georgia was a /Red/ State.
Or are you the Laureate?
And your life formulae are as bad as your poultry.
I "give" you pinto beans and corn, and you'll have another tantrum
about not being Recognised According To Your Station.
Then you'll have a Major Constipation.
Because you can't cook beans and corn any better'n you can cook words.
Of course, you'll call it Another Pome In The Endless Series Of

Worse, he can't play the bridge of that tune.
It's a period during which we /don't/ pay attention to him because
he /doesn't/ demand it; he's sitting alone in that empty room with
the door shut. Nuthin' but that blank page and the few words /he/
actually knows.
And he ceases to exist.
And descends into Hell (psychological, in the metaphor; not the
Hell usually meant, but the one full of Demons).
And instantly comes screaming at us to bandaid his burned wittle toe.

Not really.
There's always the salmon who swims forward exactly as fast as the
river is flowing back.
That way, he can claim he has a "home."
Or an "art."
The chuckles, by contrast, is flushed out of his dumpster almost
every time there's a little...

Which is what we're /all/ here for, though most of you lack the balls to
admit it.
These are a few of my favorite strokes, to paraphrase Coltrane:
> if only.
And of course the musicians I work with, as well as those who appreciate the
works I create. Each to his own, though... for example, my most recent
/triumph of the will/, one of many no doubt to come over the next months:
The excerpts from a letter writ last night, excerpted because the coffee
hasn't cut through my lazy hangover haze:
> so don't get Brando's hopes up),
I had a link to Brando's website, made when he was still "up North", with
amusing ICP influenced graphics and whatnot, including some of his music
from that time, I'll ask him again. Damn, forgot the band's name, as well.
He's got a pretty good voice, but the only songs Henry plays he can handle
are a couple of Doors covers. Actually, I should hook him up with the
Earthside site.
> that she met some
> Juggalos from Terminus there last year. I'm sure if

Heh... he's pretty locked down in the PR kitchen slinging pizzas, but he no
doubt knows about it.
> email and the Shadowville Freenet Wiki.
My connections to downtown seem to dwindle more with each day, so this could
make it interesting again... Khe Sanh pub and "Shadowville Society" or
whatever they're called continue to fight for the upper hand, and last night
Henry told me that the street busking gigs at Pizza Roma [across the street
from Toad's Books at the poet's fountain] will end, since those guys have
declared "No street music!"... unless hosted by Khe Sanh pub, of course.
Zach Gamble told Khe Sanh pub's Dr. Bledsoe to f.o.a.d. this past weekend
when one of the bands he's a sideman with, the Hellbilly Band had a gig
there on one of the holiday nights, for an agreed price of X amount of $s,
and after the show the Khe Sanh manager says, "We're gonna give you X $
[less] with the promise that we'll bring you back... or we'll pay you the
agreed X$ and so long...", Joey & Zach took the promised amount and said
"see ya then".
Hellbilly Band have a single playing on alt-country radio around th country,
but needless to say Shadowville hasn't played a note of it, a cut on the
compilation "The United State of Americana, Vol. 2":
<http://www.shuteyerecords.com/the_united_state_of_americana2.htm>
The track, and others from the compilation, can be sampled at:
<http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/usamericana2>
Anyway, good that downtown's evolving, if the alternative factions can
weather the constant crackdown-plans of the Khe Sanh pub & "Shadowville
Society" guys.
> device you can surf
> the web and e.g. write in the Wikipedia from
> anywhere in downtown
> without having to have an ISP.
That'd certainly make downtown more tolerable. I'll see if I can meet up
with them through Jody and Alec... who may actually /be/ them... they're
both sharp kids with plenty of drive to make things happen.
> keep me posted - things are developing rather fast

As a closing, the night of the 4th was an unexpected triumph at SoHo---
Henry emailed me that he was picking me up to do a set with me, and we went
[Monday's open mic].
Basil Fitzpatrick was in town from NY, superb electric guitarist [noticable
Edge of U2 influences] and asked Henry where a place to play these days
would be, and Henry bit the bullet and said SoHo [as I wrote in a previous
letter, Henry, et al are not pleased with the way SoHo yanked the Wed & Thur
gigs, so for the past couple of weeks, the open mic's been boycotted, and
apparently not only by Henry & co, there were only two other performers,
Gary Frankfurt, a Tom Waits type songwriter, and a new guy in a big coyboy
hat singing Randy Travis covers [pretty good, actually].
On the way over we didn't know this, though, and expected to do a couple of
our collaborations, a couple of his, and a couple of Basil's, and exit.
When we arrived, turns out BF had been on the horn with more than just me
and the Hen, and had assembled an all-star cast of Alabama players:
Clyde Baker: guitar, flute, vocals
Calhoun: bass
Michael Mason: congas
Dorundo Jenkins: drums, vocals
Henry Conley: acoustic rhythm guitar, vocals
Basil Fitzpatrick: lead stratocaster, vocals
Faye Fitzpatrick: vocals
and me
Yep, a full band [some of the finest of Phenix City] with *six* lead
singers, all of a slightly different genre: Clyde's pure classic rock,
Airplane, Stones, Animals, et cetera, Dorundo does 70s soul classics, Basil,
U2 over-the-toppers they're most easily described, his band was Glasswind
"up North" back in the day, Henry's folky-blues, Faye's nightingale wails
and whatever it is I do, "Black Eagle", "Zorro", "Mirror Twins", et cetera.
Being the night of the 4th may have been a factor, but only Gary and the C&W
singer [Jeff, never met him before but seems to be a nice gent] had signed
up to play and so our crew took the stage... and kept it for 3 hours
straight, /round-robin/ vocals... as I wrote before: an absolute and clear
triumph.
If Henry can convince Basil to move back to Alabama [he already has a house
occupied by his estranged wife, Faye, who's also Clyde's sister]
this will be the new Fall line-up.

From the morning newspaper:
"John Kerry [...] led President George W. Bush by a comfortable 2,800-vote
margin in Muscogee County, another Democratic stronghold...
Democrats took Muscogee County by 4,000-5,000 votes in 2000, 1996 and 1992.
The Republicans, behind G.H.W. Bush, captured the county in
1988..
This year's results show the Kerry-Edwards team claiming 32,772 votes, or
51.36 percent. The Bush-Cheney combination recieved 30,702 vote, or
48.12 percent."
The people of Shadowville are not easily fooled, which is why they make up
some of the finest audiences in the world.

Actually, I'm very interested. In fact, I've used what I learned from you by
studying the rewrite process you went through on "Skirt Of Printed
Sunflowers" with "Pastel Hollarings" for the newly rewritten poem "Pastel
Mythology", which just went into print yesterday in PGMag
<http://www.playgroundsmag.com> the local "arts" monthly here in
Shadowville. The first of my new poems I consider /ready/.
In addition, I learned from your poem "Spring", through the exchange between
you and Dale Houstman recently, where he took /that/ poem and rewrote it as
"Milk Cannisters" or somesuch. That, and his masterful "Her Lark Colony" has
been useful to study in working with the poem "Scorpioman In Trashcanland",
which I hope to have ready by the August issue.
This stuff will be /reflected/ here, eventually, but /real life/ and my
/real audience/, the People of Shadowville, come first, of course.

i have. i found no posts is this newsgroup that support your completely
ridiculous claim that you've produced anything worth reading or listening to.
so, by purely empirical evidence, empirical being another word you don't
understand, there is no evidence that anyone besides yourself believes you
produce anything of worth.
again, no shock there, but at least there's evidence to show that i'm right.

because you've posted my poetry here dozens of times before.
try again, drunky-loser. i could be dead for five years and i could still
outthink and outwrite you.
You can start by learning to use Google...
then what does original mean? especially in the context of the incredible shit
that you create.
Yours? You've written poestry and posted it here?

So when will you post a poem?
There you go, you're not as silly as you look. You defined "original" right
there: "...incredible shit that you create."
You're entitled to your opinion of the art I make, but it's all mine, and
completely original work.

i must assume you were lying about that. as usual. you lie about so much.
Airplane glue is good creating "layers" in abstract art, and little
bits of sand, ground crayon, and other bits of color worked in. The
finished painting is /deep/ and you can see /inside/ it.
I learned this from Dan Barfield my first poetry teacher:
----
Columbus Ledger-Enquirer (GA)
July 13, 1997
Section: LOCAL
Edition: FIRST
Page: B1
HOW GROSS THY ART
Tim Chitwood
Apparently it was all just a big misunderstanding.
The misunderstanding led to a 911 call about a decomposing body in an
old house M***** S*****'s husband R****** owns at 2113 **th St. in
Columbus. That led to the discovery that it wasn't a body after all,
but artwork made of barbed wire and blowtorched Barbie dolls.
But it sure looked like a body to police. And it looked like a body to
paramedics. And it definitely looked like a body to Danny W****.
Danny is a real estate agent who with M***** went to look at the house
July 2. He wanted to buy it and fix it up. It needs fixing up. The
roof leaks in places and some of the floor's rotting. The S**** now
live on F**** Drive and use the **th Street house for storage.
M*****'s son Will Dockery lets friends -- artists, poets and madmen,
Will says -- store their work there.
Among those artists is Dan Barfield, who has a concept piece called
``Vietnam,'' part of which the veteran made of melted Barbie dolls.
(``He hates Barbies,'' says his wife Judy.) It now lies on the floor
among other stuff stored in the dark, northwest bedroom of the ##th
Street house. To someone who didn't know what it was, it might look
like a rib cage and sternum atop decayed matter.
That's what it looked like to Danny W**** when he walked into that
musty room, first staring up at the rafters. Then he looked down. Then
he froze. Then he ran.
He wasn't sure what he saw. Maybe a body. Maybe it was sealed with
wax, which trapped the odor. Maybe this was a bizarre ritual. Maybe he
didn't want to know.
M***** followed Danny as he dashed outside, where he tried to make a
call on his cell phone. She told him not to. According to her, she
told him he'd just seen some artwork. According to Danny, she never
said that; she just said they didn't need the police coming there.
This did not sound reassuring. Danny had to make that call. Now don't
call the police, M***** said again. She says she also told Danny her
son Will had a bad temper, and he wouldn't like Danny calling the
police.
She says Danny replied that the police wouldn't do anything to her;
she wasn't involved. That's true, she said (she wasn't involved in
storing the art), but the police needn't be bothered.
M***** claims Danny then offered her $13,000 for the house, then said
it needed so much work the most he could give her was $10,000.
Danny maintains all M***** did was tell him no one should call the
police.
The next day, someone called the police.
About 10:30 a.m., police and paramedics rushed to the house, unboarded
a door to get in and examined what they, too, thought was a decaying
body, oddly odorless. Then they poked it and figured out it wasn't. It
was such a weird story, the Ledger-Enquirer ran it on the front page
July 4.
That's how M****** learned police had broken into the house. She was
perturbed. She blamed Danny.
Danny won't say he called police, but admits he told someone what he
thought he saw. Stan Swiney of the 911 center says the call reportedly
came from a Billy Hanson. (No Billy Hanson listed in the Columbus
telephone directory was involved; I called.)
The 911 report said someone saw the alleged corpse through a window.
That's difficult: The room's dark; the window's dirty; the art's hard
to see.
The artist, Dan Barfield, says it's funny Danny W**** would be
frightened, because the real estate agent stopped by a few months ago
when Dan was moving art into the house, and this piece was out on the
lawn at the time. The artist claims the agent told him a decayed body
was found in the house once.
Danny says that's outrageous: He has never met Dan Barfield. ``I would
remember that,'' he says.
Danny says he just wanted to buy the house to help clean up the
neighborhood, where he owns other property. ``As far as I'm concerned
now, they couldn't give it to me,'' he says.
Perhaps it will remain the house of scary art, where once people
thought they saw a dead body.
But didn't.

so then you admit that you write nothing but shit? if you are, we might be able
to get somewhere.
>You're entitled to your opinion of the art I make, but it's all mine, and

it's yours (because god knows no one else on earth would want it), but it's
about as original as a teenager's journal entry. a STUPID teenager's journal
entry. there's nothing "original" in your atrocious shit, dockery. it's
derivative of you limited idea of what poetry is. it may be yours, but it's not
original.
My interest is in creating new works of original art, yours is playing the
role of the jeering heckler.
Your opinion is your own, and you're welcome to it.
I did. Do you want me to re-post it?
> i must assume you were lying about that. as usual. you lie about so much.
After I read it I agreed with you that it was better off buried and
forgotten, and so played your gane of denial: the poem officially doesn't
exist.

Okay then, JRS. Here's the poem:
----
eyeing mother
------------
the shower spoke
steamy suggestions
not to me
i told myself
all the times the door
was left ajar
would mark
another opportunity
until both
you and i
had succumbed.
and i threw away
such promises
once made
about bathroom privacy
and looked through the doorcrack
and eyeing mother
saw areolas
glistening wet
like two big eyes
shedding soapy tears
looking back
at me saying
not again
you little perv.
another memory.

though?
You know better than that, little feller.
You're entitled to your opinion of the art I make, but it's all mine, and

How about you? Any poetry to show?
new works of shit, dockery. we must be precise. you don't create art. you never
have. you have absolutely no interest in creating art. we've already established
that fact. and there's nothing you've ever done that could be called original.
even the bum's life that you live isn't very original at all. losers all over
America lead the exact same life you do.
heh. i knew you were lying! what a drunken, stupid moron you are!
you couldn't find it, could you?
why did you lie and say you did read it when clearly you did not?
i mean BESIDES the fact that you're a drunken, stupid moron?
by all means. please repost it.

well, that's a lie. i never once expressed a desire to have it hidden. i posted
the poem in plain sight, so it's not "hidden," nothing in usenet can be hidden.
feel free to repost it.
Have you a better poem than that? "eyeing mother" was well written compared
to the usual crap you post here.
Then why not post it here in plain sight, or name the title?
Obviously you want the poem to remain hidden... if the poem exists.
indeed. if you actually admitted to the truth of your wasted life i think it
would kill you.
> You're entitled to your opinion of the art I make, but it's all mine, and

perhaps it's original shit? no, it's not even original shit. creative? i'm
trying to figure out how something as mindless as your atrocious shit can be
considered creative? i don't think it's possible.
>With much more to come.
haven't seen anything new from you in months, dockery. you just keep reposting
the same, unoriginal, shit over and over and over and over again. why is that?
>How about you? Any poetry to show?
lots! but if i posted here you wouldn't be able to find it, because it wouldn't
be about you.
As I wrote before, you're entitled to your opinions on my creations... when
you delude yourself into thinking your opinions, based on your limited
persepctive of my genre, is /fact/, then I have to gently correct you.
so you couldn't find my poem. it was right out there. in it's the archives. but
why did you claim you read it when you didn't?
why were you lying, dockery? and what else are you lying about?
I just posted one of the poems of yours.
If there's another of yours you want to be seen, post it here or name the
title.
Simple as that, JRS.
So we agree.
but i did post it here, in plain sight, with the name and title. why must i
repost it again just because you can't find it? unlike you i am not so insecure
that i have to respost an item over and over and over and over and over again.
why do you do that?
>Obviously you want the poem to remain hidden... if the poem exists.
but why did you claim you read it when you didn't? why did you lie about that?
what reason did you have to lie about it?

but it's an opinion based on mountains of evidence in my favor. you really do
write nothing but shit. and your "music" is even worse.
>when
>you delude yourself into thinking your opinions, based on your limited
>persepctive of my genre, is /fact/, then I have to gently correct you.
so there's an "atrocious shit" genre where you believe you're the master?
sorry, dockery, even by the measure of some idiotic, made-up genre that only YOU
know about, your work is nothing but shit. the reason it is shit is because you
don't care about making anything good, you just like to pose as an artist, and
that's really pathetic.
well, no, you didn't, and you know that.
but how come you lied when you said you read my poem when you didn't? why lie
about something like that? what was your point? why lie?
it's really sad on your part, dockery.
you look so bad when you get cornered, dockery.
but seriously, why did you say yesterday that you'd read my poem, but then today
you claim i haven't posted anything in years?
why did you lie about something like that? how sad must one be to have to lie
about something as trivial as reading a poem?
it's rather sad that you feel you need to lie about having read a poem when you
haven't.
> Always and completely original, JRS, as you know.
So is a roulette wheel.
So is a schizophrenic.
Combine them, and one achieves the originality of a Dockery, i.e.,
a roulette wheel that has lost its marble.

And when the mountains of shit are large enough, they will collapse
into Black Holes.
And God (aether) will then have (take) a Great Big Squeeze (dump),
and Lo, there shall be Hydrogen*.
It's /original/, yes, but it can hardly be said to be /different/.
I.e., when "originality" is of the strictly-mechanical caliber of
yours and God's, it merely produces a lot of gas.
Not to mention stupidity.
And that, like hydrogen, your gas has a long way to climb to
achieve even that.

Actually, you may have something. Tommy has invented several
personae, each "close to suicide" for a suspiciously long time, who
claim on occasion to wallow in his, ah, "stuff."
Perhaps they are able to pick the undigested cor... ah,
"psychotropic medicine," out of his, ah, "original stuff."
Or perhaps it merely means that "psychotropic" in that venue means
"that which seeks psychoses."
