The obsession continues. It has a name now. PDS (Palin Derangement
Syndrome).

Easy target for ridicule. What someone like yourself who appears for
the most part to be intelligent sees in her is beyond me. Ideological
blindness or you have 'feelings' for her.

Cheers!

And, therefore, you and other leftists feel this overwhemling need to
elevate her notoriety every chance you get.

I can't defend someone from what I consider to be unfair attacks
without being ideological blind or having feelings for her? This is
the same thing that was said about me when I was defending Jane from
what I considered to be unfair attacks on this group.

I like Sarah Palin. She's a strong woman, an accomplished woman, and I
agree with many of her political views. So I'll defend her from rabid
obsessive personal attacks, just as I once defended Jane. I have a
feeling, however, that Sarah Palin would honor loyalty with loyalty, a
quality that is lacking in Jane.

Hmmm...a mother who goes on the campaign trail and writes a novel oops
memoir when she has a disabled infant who no doubt needs far more from
her than she is willing to give. Not my idea of loyalty. We worked
opposite shifts for many years so that we could raise our child. I
wouldn't have dreamt of abandoning him to nannies. Sarah is loyal to
Sarah. I doubt she would be loyal to Steven even if she read all his
hero-worshiping posts here. She proved what loyalty means to her when
she abandoned her governorship (if putting her ambition ahead of her
disabled child wasn't proof enough).

As for me, I am loyal to those who deserve it.

She had Trig with her for much of the campaign. And when she wasn't
able to be with him, her husband took care of him. As for the book, it
was written from much of her own existing notes, but everyone knows
the book was put together by a ghost writer. It's one of the
criticisms of her, for not having written every word herself.

She has Trig with her. And her husband is with them, so he can take
care of Trig while she's signing books.

Can you show me that she's done that? Or are you making it up?

How do you know? Are you basing that on your own personality, and
projecting it onto her?

She explained why she left the governorship, and I accept her
explanation. The obsessed left was going after her, forcing her to
spend more time defending herself from spurious accusations than doing
the job she was elected to do. She turned the job over to someone who
would not be distracted from doing the job of Governor of Alaska.

I doubt it. I doubt you're loyal to anyone other than yourself.

The L.A. Times reported that a whopping huge 100
people didn't get their autographs... out of what
the Huffington Post is calling 1000 people.

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/washington/2009/11/sarah-palin-book-signing.html

And, oh, those 100 people where offered autographs,
but they were on what is called a "Plate."

This is common practice.

Usually -- as in almost always -- a book signing event
is sponsored by a book store.

They're not free. It costs a lot of money to ship
celebrities from store to store, across the nation.

Anyhow, "Events" like this are good for business,
as they bring people into your store and generate
publicity. So, book stores sponsors them...

Anyhow, let's say that you're scheduled for 4 hours
at a particular location...

Or let's say that the sponsoring book store only wants
you to sign copies of books that people bought from
them...

Or let's say there's a finite number of books you can
sign before the writer's cramp has you screaming in
agony...

The STANDARD PRACTICE for addressing all of the
above is to hand out "Plates."

A "Plate" is basically a sticker, no different from one
of those cheap, stick-on name tags, which the author
can sign at their leisure. So instead of signing 900
copies in one sitting -- as Sarah Palin apparently did,
assuming everybody only bought one copy -- she
could sign a hundred a day for weeks, maybe even a
month BEFORE even leaving on the book tour.

Now as it turns out, Cal is a psychotic autograph
collector, so I've actually seen this system in use
plenty of times.

You miss the reason for my laughter.
It is not because of some disgruntled, 10, 100, or a 1000, but that so many
would show up to wait for a long while in the cold to get a signature from a
goddamned demogogic asshole.
If America doesn't start moving past the 'dumb follow the lousy leader'
syndrome, it'll not matter how many signatures one collects for posterity or
value, how many booed or cheered. The whole nation will be vanquished by its
ignorance, immaturity, and narcissism.
But, then, they line up for blocks to see Michael Jackson's last
'performance' - a run-of-the-mill practice session.
As they line up like fat pigs to a slaughter, dumb sheep for a fleecing.
What a crock.

It's not surprising It takes a long time to compose a book of nonfiction or
fiction. She's in a hurry to get herself 'out there' as an object of
worship and dreamy desire. Politics in America continues to degrade into
efforts at narcissistic stardom, while a media-cuddled populace is drawn
further into the fantasy fold of quick soundbytes, momentary sensations,
luridness, shallowness, as forgettable minutes and hours of exploitation
fill their waking hours.

She has Trig with her. And her husband is with them, so he can take
care of Trig while she's signing books.

And it's so necessary to keep oneself out there. The mission is a great
one -- only that witch can save America from liberal ruin. LOL! "Hey, Sarah,
please sign your book, and will you please add, 'To Steven, with all my
love.'? " End of day: "Goddamn, they really are a flock of fuckin' silly
sheep out there," Palin mutters.
