Washington sniper executed

John Allan Muhammad and his then teenage offsider, Lee Boyd Malvo,
killed 10 people in the Virginia Maryland and Washington DC area as
they went about everyday activities like shopping and putting petrol
into their cars.
The shootings paralysed Washington and triggered one of the biggest
man-hunts in US history.
Muhammad tried all avenues to stay his execution. After the Supreme
Court rejected his appeal, the governor said he saw no reason to show
clemency.
Muhammad was strapped to a gurney and given a lethal injection.
Some family members of his victims were in the room to see him put to
death.
Lee Boyd Malvo is serving life without parole.
