People began abandoning USENET when the web based moderated foums
gained momentum and popularity. Normal working folks are pretty sick
and tired of the idiots that troll the newsgroups like the asshole
from Dizum or publically illiterate morons like Kirby Grant, Gary
Rozelles, wy, Swinehart etc etc.
Anyone wanting to have any serious discussion about anything will do
so on facebook or one of thousands of web based forums where the
trolling dickheads get immediately banned for playing the childish
games they are so fond of on USENET.
Ever since they discovered that they can get away with forging other
people's identities and flood newsgroups as ways to shut down
discussions USENET has pretty much been doomed.
The only thing that is actually truly worthwhile on newsgroups anymore
are the binary groups that offer up something that people can actually
use.
You want to have a meaningful discussion with someone then go join one
of the facebook pages that your belief system can relate to.
People behave a lot more sensibly when they are looking at being
banned and blocked for showing their immaturity there.
USENET has become like a cage full of monkeys all just throwing shit
at each other for the most part.
