Haven't been on top of things lately. Did not know of MSAS until seeing it
mentioned here. Went to the FAQ for it.

Q. How much does Windows AntiSpyware (Beta) cost?
A. You can download the beta version of the anti-spyware software
at no charge.

I take it M$ is going to charge for this after testing is done?

personal use at home, but a version intended for businesses will come with a
fee.

Be aware the M$ has gotten into bed with a couple
of these spyware companies and their software
will detect it, but the setting will be to leave it
alone. So if you use it, watch what the setting are
for each one it found, before doing the cleaning.

That's why it's important to not rely on 1 anti-spyware program.

Correction. That's why it's important not to rely
on M$. :)

The setting can be changed after the scan.
My point is that one has to be careful when
viewing the screen that tells you what was
found and make sure that it is set to delete
those spywares.

Btw, I have found that the new version of
A2Squared Free, does, contrary to what
their web site states, have the on guard
portion enabled. And it asks for permission
for each program that tries to access the
Internet and allows you various options
(once, always, not this time, never, etc.).

Pretty cool! :)

What do you think of Aluria? It seems to get
good reviews and one web site said that it
is what AOL uses for spyware blocking for
their users???

It may be apart of their OneCare package which will include a firewall,
anti-virus as well as anti-spyware tools.
