The issue came to light after German authorities asked to audit the data
the company's Street View cars gathered as they took photos viewed on
Google maps.
Google said during a review it found it had "been mistakenly collecting
samples of payload data from open networks".
The admission will increase concerns about potential privacy breaches.
These snippets could include parts of an email, text or photograph or
even the website someone may be viewing.
In a blogpost Google said as soon as it became aware of the problem it
grounded its Street View cars from collecting wi-fi information and
segregated the data on its network.

I wonder how it accidently collected that information.. short of
accessing the networks and browsing around... or packet sniffing?

I'd really like to know how that accidently happens...

Sounds like packet sniffing was taking place. I'm unsure how it could
have been "accidental" tho.

Sounds like Google knew about it, and was planning to continue doing it,
but someone in Germany screwed up their plans...

I wear the interest in Pot with Pride, thanks. You may stick the "illegal"
aspect squarely straight up your ass, along with your other mental
deficient thoughts, sir. Do you drink sir? Did you know it was illegal for
the same nonsense reasons pot was made illegal? thanks to that stupid move
by the government and ignorant shits like you, we created (thanks to your
kind, not mine) the mafia; gangsters, the mob..
Keep that in mind next time you critize someone for doing something
"illegal.".

Especially when Google prides themselves on hiring only the best programmers.
Google is known to suck up all the comp-sci PhDs available. And they
inadvertantly collected data from nearby wi-fi hotspots? Google is the
Antichrist, plain and simple.
Illegal drugs is what you self confessed to.
You have no honor or credibility now.

Well if you really are proud, why are you so defensive?
I suppose you are special since you are the first to admit
to being part of david's team.
The you admit to being a pot head, not special.
Just a draw in the special department.
The good news now everyone knows where you are coming from.

Huh?

Yep. I'm a really bad boy, I smoke pot. I'm so fucking evil, the devil is
nervous.

AHAHAHA. Sorry, it doesn't work that way. :)
Your not buying the BS either I see. :)
Now all know you are a pot head.

You are closer to the anti-Christ with your drug glorification views.
Shame on for leading the children that read this group astray!

Now you are supporting the druggie brigade. You should have kept quiet.

The problem is not with google.
It's the buttheads who leave their networks wide open

Uhh.. Slight news flash, Bullwinkle. Everyone who knows I'm "Raid"
already knows I partake. Do you really think I'd take a chance and just
recently disclose something? :) I don't think so. hehehe.
I'm wondering if the muchies has been a problem and turned you into a triple

It doesn't matter. It should NEVER have been made illegal.
I wish! Well, maybe not that big; but bigger.. Nah, I can munch all day
long on some of the baddest fast food (as in health) and not gain anything
significant. I weigh approx 160lbs or so. I've been this way my entire
life, very fast metabolism. I just don't gain weight well. When I was
little, my Grandparents would bribe me. One new computer part, such as a
printer, double deck floppy drive, or an RGB monitor for every 10 pounds I
gained in 30 days. It took me 6 months to get everything for it. LOL

I agree, one hundred and twenty percent. Knowing why it's really illegal in
the first place just makes my blood boil sometimes.

If that's true Peter, and I have no reason to assume it is or isn't; I take
everything with a grain of salt. I have no doubt you did get alot of slack
for his activities. He chewed up mad amounts of bandwidth being a royal
pain in many a persons arse. While I never had the pleasure of a first hand
meetup, his reputation was well known; even in my circles.

Well thank god you two are wrong and the majority of the population
disagree with you.
So it is wrong to show cartoon images of breasts but perfectly OK to
glorify taking drugs. No consideration for any younger readers. Morons!
