Frog stopped responding shortly after Friday 2002/06/28 01:35:27 GMT
(that was the time stamp on the last upload of stats
to mirror privacyresources.org/frogadmin)

I found out the problem today around noon
when trying to connect to my NewsServer.
I had been on a short cruise until today
(my partner is Brazilian-born and wanted to be on shore
to celebrate victory over Germany...
...night will be hot in Brazilian bars in Alicante
... and after a few caipirinhas I can speak fluent Brazilian,
including genuine accent from Ouro Preto)

Time to contact my brave old lady neighbour
(she got a refresh class just before my departure)
and she powered off/on both modem and frontal computer
Systems restarted without need for more human intervention.

[for those interested:
My modem (Alcatel Speed Touch Home ethernet)
"freezes" in case of some bizarre problems on the line.
Even a telnet to reboot it would fail:
-->the only solution is a power-off followed with a power-on
(such condition happens every week in average)
Because of the possible mess on the frontal computer
(the one carrying Mercury, Apache, DNews and FTPs)
created by too many accumulating pending network requests,
it is more reliable to power-off / power-on that computer too
(while the machine carrying Reliable self
and BestCrypt-encrypted drive with secret keyrings
is unaffected and should not be rebooted before September)

In Alicante, I missed Hogueras (final burning took place on Monday night)
but there were fireworks all week
I logged a few dives, including a -40m and night dives.
If I survive the Brazilian night tonight,
and the Jaromiquai concert Monday 1st in Campello,
next local event wiil be 'Mercado Medieval' in Alicante
(next week, for one week)
and then 'Moros y Cristinos' in VillaJoyosa
(whole second half July)

Does anyone actualy believe all that?, I reckon his electric
ran out and he only just managed to scroung some dosh of the
little old lady next door to put in the meter!.

If it is true and you have all this dosh to party and travel
and it really is just your modem playing up, wouldnt it be
prudent and wise simply to get a new modem?, the old lady
can fit it in for you and set it up!.

After "free security audit" by the dutch psychopath on welfare, aka
"Boschlooney the Last" aka "Defender of apas",
here we got "free hardware advice" by "Secure Beer" aka "Champerty"
aka "great guiding light" aka "--" aka "I am a psychopath on welfare
too".

BONUS:
Both propose "free anal enlargement" too.

If you're not interested in any solutions to your problems, just STFU! I
think the router/hub idea was a great one. The guy also seemed to have
experience with Acatel ADSL modems, so you should have heed his help. It
is not like you are actually running one of the more reliable remailers
after all. You need all the help you can get!
