Somebody was asking about how to send mail untraceably.

Here are some instructions about how to get started.

What do you think of them?

In order to send email and newsgroup messages untraceably, you need three
programs: pgp, mixmaster, and Quicksilver.

To get pgp, go to:
http://www.pgpi.org/cgi/download.cgi?filename=PGPFW658Win32.zip

Once you have it downloaded, install it. Take the defaults.

To get mixmaster, use your browser and go to:
ftp://ftp.quicksilvermail.net/pub/quicksilver/

From the list, pick out the latest version of Quicksilver, which is
QS1.2.6b2.exe

Download it.
Install it.

After it installs, or when you first try to run it, it will point out that
you don't have mixmaster installed, and will ask if you want it to find it
for you. The easiest thing to do is to choose 'yes'. Quicksilver will then
point you to the Quicksilver directory, from which you just downloaded
Quicksilver, and let you download mixmaster, which, currently, is
Mix29b39.zip.

After it downloads, Quicksilver will install it.

You can then run Quicksilver and it will download a load of remailer keys
and remailer information.

Read the Quicksilver help files, or ask here, if you can't figure out how
to post.

QS works fine without PGP. And if you are going to use PGP you would be
best of using version 8.1:

http://jya.com/pgpfree/PGP810-PF-W.zip
http://ftp.idg.se/natkom/arkiv/sakerhet/kryptering/pgp/PGP810-PF-W.zip

ftp://rayman.gjar-po.sk/pub/win95/security/PGP810-PF-W.zip
http://www.kmitl.net/class/com_sec/PGP810-PF-W.zip

(Thanks to Pantyhoseman in ASP).

I also wouldn't use the beta version of QS. Since it is beta it might
still have undiscovered errors in it. Non-Beta is safer (QS 1.2.5)..

You are probably correct in that you need mixmaster (for Win32).

thanks for the comments. Here is the changed version. Since QS doesn't
need pgp, I've skipped that bit to make it as simple as possible.

Here are some instructions about how to get set up to send mail
untraceably, under Windows.

In order to send email and newsgroup messages untraceably, you need two
programs: Quicksilver and Mixmaster.

To get Quicksilver, use your browser and go to:
ftp://ftp.quicksilvermail.net/pub/quicksilver/

From the list, pick out the latest non-beta version of Quicksilver, which
is currently QS1.2.5.exe

Download it.
Install it by clicking on the file.
Take the defaults.

That saying just that would scare people away.

Wow! What have you been smoking? Richard has had the source available
as long as the binary has been in use.
