Am new to pomo, have just started to study it as a college freshman.
I have been assigned a research paper and need some "entry level"
suggestions. No literary morasses to wade through, please (tried to read
Derrida and Baudrillard and nearly died; I would like to, however get more
experience in the field to "graduate" to those texts). Basically this needs
to be a "critical" text.
I must also pick an "aesthetic" pomo-themed text, film, song, etc. to
compare with the first text.
Any suggestions?

Note: ICON Books is now affiliated with the Penguin Books conglomerate
-- and the series has, for the most part, been renamed from "...for
Beginners" to "Introducing...". In addition to "Introducing
Postmodernism", there are also books in the series dealing with
Baudrillard, Foucault, Semiology and Lacan. (Hmmm...I'm sad to see that
the "for Beginners" books have been bashed of late. About a year ago,
they were given more positive reviews -- and personally, I have found
them a good starting place for most novices.)
(As for a postmodern approaches to papers, one student in one of my
classes decided to try a comic book -- neat idea. Another interesting
idea one student has tried was presenting most of the paper in
footnotes. I would suggest though that the original poster should
consider the professor's personal tastes before starting. In other
words, do some background reading.)
