"Bi. Poly. Switch. I'm not indecisive, just greedy."
I have always liked this button, I have always thought this was an
awfully cool button. I like the slogan. I like nancybuttons in
general. But, the slogan doesn't apply to me because I am neither bi,
nor switch.
A friend of mine got a custom button reading:
"Vanilla. Monogamous. Sorry."
which I also like, it has the same lovely cadence as the "Bi. Poly.
Switch." button but again it doesn't apply to me. I'm not monogamous,
and I don't know if I could be called vanilla.
So, I'm asking the group if anyone can come up with a similar type
slogan for a straight, non-bdsm, poly so I can get a button made.

What is the "het privilege?"
As for the really greedy thing, I find it a lousy position to take when
giving the long explanation of poly but a more than suitable for a one

The privileges associated with being (or appearing to be) heterosexual
in a hetero-centric society. Legal things, like state recognition and
associated bennies being available for (a subset of) heterosexual
(or at least mixed-gender) relationships, and social things, like
being generally safer from verbal, economic, legal and/or physical
hassling for ones choice of romantic partner. Et cetera.
It's less often something that someone "takes" than it's what they're
given.
Never heard of it being associated with poly, though.

I've wished that there would be some pictures on that site so I could

should I actually admit that in public, or is it the equivalent of

So, write her and tell her... she might put pictures up.
Most people come to nancybuttons from seeing someone's cool button in
person and thus do not need to know what they look like.
As for what they look like, she has a dozen or so types of calligraphy
writing available and the buttons are the crimpy plastic on metal type.
Most buttons are on various shades of pastel paper (easier to read that
way). However, she takes a real joy in paper and has all sorts of
varieties to choose from. Custom buttons often get really fancy paper.
My "amazing exploding lifeguard" buttons are all on slightly reflective
blue/white paper than looks like sunlight on water.

Custom buttons can also be in a wide variety of ink colors. Dark blue
paper doesn't work well with black ink--but white-on-dark works.
It's worth noting that these buttons are large and friendly; if you
like the kind that are a centimeter or two across, so you can pin a
dozen on a bag or hat without blinding strangers with reflected
sunlight, you may find these a bit too blatant. Or you may find you
like both.

Sounds interesting, and like web page pictures would do a good job of
showing them off.
Ha ha ha ... well it's certainly very educational.
Yeah, I do like little tiny ones, because what I do with them is put
them on my backpack (which is already pretty covered with buttons and
pins and other decorations), and the bigger something is the more
likely it is to stick way out and get snagged on something instead of
more or less hugging the flexing, curving, surfaces of the backpack.
Though it's not like some of the pins don't have sharp and/or oddly-
shaped parts sticking out this way and that, for example a long-
tailed parrot I got at one point last year when I was feeling
particularly charmed by this newsgroup.
I sure don't get up there very often, but last summer I went to a
party in Palo Alto where both guests of honor and at least one other
partygoer were (among all their other wonderful qualities)
alt.polyamory posters. So who knows, something like that could
happen again ...
This would probably make quite a good one too...
