With any luck, this ad will get play on every TV station in America.
It will be one of many things that usher in a landslide win for Kerry.
Damn, you Bush Republicans are some stupid, lying, unAmerican scumbags.
I'm all for that ad airing everywhere - and showing America just how much.
-- -Mr. N ************************** I stand before you this evening because I truly believe that no one will be more resolute in defending America nor in pursuing terrorists than John Kerry. And that no one will be more skilled in bringing allies back to our side. -Retired Army General John Shalikasvili
The funny thing is that you keep proving that Kerry served. Bush did not serve and in fact was trained to fly a fighter that his daddy knew was being decommissioned. He had paid training and then never showed for the flight physical. Keep bringing up the service records, they keep bringing Bush down. Posted by Rubber Dino
So tell me, how does a book publisher get into politics? Alicia Carter definitely didn't serve in Nam.

* On May 17, 2004, Matt Gunn shares a segment from Joe Conason's recent registration-required Salon "uncovering" of "yet more 'Swift Boat Veterans for Truth' Republican ties, as if there weren't enough on record already" [Gunn comments]:
"When the 'Swift Boat Veterans for Truth' launched its campaign against John Kerry 10 days ago, leadership and guidance were provided by Republican activists and presidential friends from Texas -- notably Houston attorney John E. O'Neill and corporate media consultant Merrie Spaeth.
"On closer inspection, the ostensibly nonpartisan 'Swift Boat Vets' seem to have another pair of significant sponsors with deep and long-standing Republican connections in Missouri. Both are officers of Gannon International, a St. Louis conglomerate that does lots of overseas business in, of all places, the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
"Ties to Gannon can be traced via the Swift Boat Vets Web site ... On April 14, the site was registered under the name of Lewis Waterman, Gannon's information technology manager, at 11301 Olive Boulevard in St. Louis, the firm's headquarters address. Although Waterman wouldn't discuss why he had set up the Web site, he didn't deny that his boss, Gannon president and CEO William Franke, had asked him to do so.
"'The information about my client is confidential,' said Waterman. He acknowledged knowing, however, that his boss Franke is a Navy veteran who served in Vietnam on swift boats. Gannon vice president Stephen D. Hayes, who oversees the company's office in Alexandria, Va., is likewise a swift boat veteran who first met Franke when they served together in the Mekong Delta."
"What is most intriguing about Franke, Hayes, and Gannon -- especially in light of their apparent role in the campaign against John Kerry -- are their strong commercial interests in Southeast Asia. While Gannon is a highly diversified holding company whose divisions range from real estate in Florida and Missouri to Internet technology and software, it maintains an unusual presence in Vietnam, with offices in both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Indeed, Gannon has operated in that country's tourism, real estate and import-export sectors for a decade. (The target market for its tours was fellow Vietnam veterans.)
"None of Gannon's profitable activities in the communist republic would be possible, of course, without the approval of the Hanoi government, which Franke has described as 'strong' and 'stable.' Nor would Gannon be conducting business in Vietnam without the Clinton administration diplomacy, assisted by Sen. Kerry, that established diplomatic and trade ties with the United States in 1994. Franke first began traveling to Vietnam on behalf of Operation Smile, an American charity that provides plastic surgery to children abroad. The relationships he established during those humanitarian missions provided a considerable advantage in doing business under government auspices.
"It was also during those early visits to Vietnam, as he told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, that Franke reached a clearer understanding of the war he had once fought as a young Navy lieutenant.
"'As I looked back 20 years, I saw that it was a very imperial relationship we had with these people,' said Franke in 1989. 'We were young. We were there because we were told to be there and that they were the enemy. This time I saw them as human beings who had fears and hopes the same as we.'
"Yet he evidently cannot forgive John Kerry for reaching the same conclusion about that war and its victims, so many years before he finally did."

No, in the heartland those men who served alongside Kerry (or, in some cases, who were Kerry's superior officers) are seen as just more reasons why Kerry is political slime, someone who is unfit to be commander in chief, as those men themselves have pointed out.

We should also point out that Kerry obviously "did not serve" either, since he was in fact trained to pilot a Swiftboat (kind of like a Boston Whaler) yet today Kerry pilots a boat that looks nothing at all like a Boston Whaler. Ergo (per Liberal Democrat Logic, that is) Kerry "did not serve".
And liberal Democrats actually *wonder* why the rest of America thinks they are such total assholes???
The reason your swift boat group is roundly ignored is that it's funding is purely Republican. If you'd like to refut this, please post your financial statements here for all to see.

The reason John Kerry is roundly ignored by thinking Americans and by patriotic Americans is that his funding is purely Democrat. If you'd like to refute [learn to spell, you ignorant Democrat] this, please post YOUR financial statements here for all to see.

This post doesn't answer or address PagCal's question.
It flames a typo which is generally considered bad netiquette. And this from someone who misuses a noun as an adjective. (I make plenty of typos and probably some grammatical errors, but isn't that to be expected on the newsgroups? After all, it's supposed to be a conversational medium).

Perhaps because PagCal didn't ASK a question above?
While you reflect on THAT, the rest of us can surf over to the following two websites and reflect on what THESE people have to say about Lt. John Forbes Kerry!

11 of the 12 rave about Kerry.
The one doesn't. Those are the 12 who served with him.
Who will Bush get to come to his convention to praise his service?
The dentist. The dentist will be up there with slides of oral xrays showing Lt Bush actually was in Alabama.
Once.
In the records of donations, I noticed that of 224 librarians who have donated money to Bush or Kerry, all but one has given to Kerry.
Some professions tilt to one party rather than the other.
Among military officers, though not the military in general, 85 percent are Republicans.
So it's not surprising that you can find many military officers opposed to Kerry.
Just as I can find many librarians opposed to Bush.
Note that the stories of these folks have changed. Col Hibbert, is that his name?, says bad things about Kerry. Now that he has learned he is a democrat.
But back in Viet Nam, before he knew Kerry was a Democrat, he lavishly praised him.
Kerry was a real hero, as those on the boat with him are glad to tell you.
They were there. Their lives were at stake.
Bush was a deserter in time of war. We know that because Bush refuses to sign the simple release form to let the press get all his records on this matter. It is fair to conclude that he refuses to let the press see the records because he deserted.
We have a war hero opposed to a guy who used his Dad's connections to dodge the draft, and even in his guard duty here in the US he deserted.

Please don't pick on typos. That is the liberal's job. Sometimes that's all they have and it's not fair to take it from them. They may sue! jt

It is fun when you have no argument. Clinton is not running, and he did not claim to be a "war" President, though Bush, in the flip-flop of the century so far is now claiming to be the "peace" pResident.
I am sure you volunteered to pilot the swift boats but since that was not dangerous enough you did something else. Could you enlighten us on what it was? Also Bush must have been on some super secret mission after being trained as a fighter pilot, because no one saw him in uniform after that until "Mission Accomplished". Posted by the Rubber Dino.

This is going to backfire on Bush, big time. The Kerries have been pretty quiet about Bush's military recaord, if any. That will now change.

Both McCain and the White House have condenmed the ad.
It's obviously false, a scam ginned up by the same people whe lied about McCain when he was running against Bush.
The pro-bush forces will do anything, say anything, no matter how dishonest.
For instaance, the doctor who claims Kerry's wound was trivial wasn't even the doctor who treated him for that wound. Documents from the time show that the Purple Heart wound was a different matter treated by a different doctor, who signed the form.
Not the goofball doctor in this vidieo who after 36 years has a memory of something else. We know his memory is wrong - because the documents prove it.
It's that kind of crap.
McCain says it's dishonest and dishonorable. Even the WH has said they don't stand behind it.
John O'neill did NOT serve with Kerry.
But in Texas he WAS a member of a law firm representing George Bush..
Did you know that?
I'm sure that being Bush's lawyer had nothing to do with his memory about these matters.
