“FLAMER” MOVEMENT TO PROTEST AT LIBRARIES NATIONWIDE
The group "Angrytownhall" is holding live protests at libraries nationwide, and in Downtown Los Angeles on 9/24/09.
The Flamer Movement aims to protest socialized social services in America, beginning with fire stations.
Los Angeles, September 17, 2009 --
On Thursday, September 24, citizens from Los Angeles will join concerned citizens across the United States in opposition to ongoing taxes imposed by America's socialized fire services, and gather to promote individual liberty, privatization, and free market principles.
"So many people are engaged in everyday socialism without even knowing it. Our police, our schools, our roads." said Angrytownhall President Troy Conrad.
"We've decided to bring awareness to the rampant socialism in America, starting with our nation's fire departments."
With the viral appeal, its meteoric Facebook page, "1 Million Strong Against our Socialist Fire Departments," the Flamer movement is a grassroots organization intent on keeping taxes low for the American people by privatizing of 100% of America's fire departments by 2011, then moving to other socialized programs, such as education care, road care, and war care.
"We have too many people who are tired of paying for their neighbor's fire, when they've had no fire. We want our America back," shouted Conrad.
The protest is expected to draw thousands in Los Angeles, and tens of thousands nationwide.
Los Angeles-based anti-socialism protesters will rally in front of the Central Library in downtown Los Angeles at 3 p.m.
Local residents are encouraged to attend to show their 'opposition' to socialized fire services.
For instance:
-A pilot light is a pre-existing condition. Why should neighbors be forced to pay for carelessness?
-The USA hosts the best fire departments in the world, but that doesn't mean that just anyone (i.e. non-U.S. citizens) should be able to dial up and have fires put out, without first giving a valid credit card.
-There may be a secret “fire panel” to let houses more than 65 years old burn if on fire.

Obvious satire. Check out the Facebook page. Some funny pics and comment there. Satire and mocking humor is one of the best ways to combat the hypocritical seriousness of the right. You only need to watch The Daily Show and Stephen Colbert to see how effctive it is. Even the bombastic Keith Olbermann does a pretty good job of shredding the right with humor. You might call it deadly serious humor.

Yes, until it became clear Hansen's disease was no longer easily transmitted person to person.

Of course, I noticed your facile avoidance of the pp's point.
I remember the fifties polio summertime polio panics. I support Medicare-for-all; if we get it, will you move to Somalia to live free?

Given that no one is being asked to give up their current policy what skin is it off your nose if people who want to use a government service do so?
Given that I am covered by my 'insurance' company yet still had to wait for almost an hour in excusiating pain while the hospital checked to see exactly what my company would cover without even LOOKING at my hand that had just been damaged with a woodchipper, I can tell you that I would like to see at least a minimum of regulation such as what Switzerland has (entirely private, everyone is covered, better service and cost less).
