John Wayne makes sun set in the west

John Wayne gives the little Vietnamese kid the beret from the team
sergeant who was KIA, the song "Ballad of the Green Berets" swells in
the background, and the sun sets over the South China Sea.
One minor problem. The South China Sea is EAST of Vietnam. The sun
sets in the WEST. Unless, of course, you are Marion Morrison -- oops
-- meant to say "unless you are John Wayne" -- then the sun sets
anydamn place you want it to.
Those were the days.

No one noticed the island in the back ground was Catalina island and
the print had been reversed to show the sun setting in the wrong
direction. Attention to detail keeps most people alive longer but I
wonder about some of you.

Yeah, movies have *lots* of that. Did you really believe the rest of
the movie? Is there a river anyplace in Vietnam that even comes close
to the one traveled by the PBR in *Apocalypse Now"? Can a UH-1 really
pick up a loaded PBR? If so, then why not just fly around all of the
beach fortifications and call the Jersey for those?
