Film grab from President Bush's new campaign ad.
-----------------------------------
'After 3,000 people were murdered on his watch, it seems to me that that
takes an awful lot of audacity. Honestly, it's in poor taste.' - Kristen
Breitweiser, with her husband's ring.
-----------------------------------
The Bush reelection campaign yesterday unveiled its first three campaign
commercials showcasing Ground Zero images, angering some 9/11 families who
accused President Bush of exploiting the tragedy for political advantage.
"It's a slap in the face of the murders of 3,000 people," said Monica
Gabrielle, whose husband died in the twin tower attacks. "It is
unconscionable."
Gabrielle and several other family members said the injury was compounded by
Bush's refusal to testify in open session before the 9/11 commission.
"I would be less offended if he showed a picture of himself in front of the
Statue of Liberty," said Tom Roger, whose daughter was a flight attendant on
doomed American Airlines Flight 11. "But to show the horror of 9/11 in the
background, that's just some advertising agency's attempt to grab people by
the throat."
Mindy Kleinberg said she was offended because the White House has not
cooperated fully with the commission and because of the sight of remains
being lifted out of Ground Zero in one of the spots.
"How heinous is that?" Kleinberg asked. "That's somebody's [loved one]."
Firefighter Tommy Fee in Rescue Squad 270 in Queens was appalled.
"It's as sick as people who stole things out of the place. The image of
firefighters at Ground Zero should not be used for this stuff, for
politics," Fee said.
But Jennie Farrell, who lost her brother, electrician James Cartier, called
the ad "tastefully done," adding: "It speaks to the truth of the times.
Sept. 11 ... was something beyond the realm of imagination, and George Bush
... led us through one of the darkest moments in history."
The gauzy, upbeat spots, aimed at shoring up Bush's sagging approval
numbers, begin airing today on national cable networks and 50 media markets
in 17 states that Bush-Cheney strategists consider electoral battlegrounds.
Two ads, including a Spanish version, show fleeting images of the World
Trade Center devastation. The 30-second spots include a poignant image of an
American flag fluttering defiantly amid the WTC wreckage.
One, titled "Safer, Stronger," also features a one-second shot of
firefighters removing the flag-draped remains of a victim from the twisted
debris.
Both ads reinforce the Ground Zero imagery with frontal shots of two
firefighters. Unlike the paid actors and actresses in most of the footage,
they are not ringers, but their red headgear gives them away as non-New
Yorkers. The Bush campaign declined to reveal where the burly smoke-eaters
actually work.
Bush officials defended the imagery as totally appropriate.
"9/11 was the defining moment of these times," campaign manager Ken Mehlman
told reporters. "Because of that day, America is at war and still is."
Charging Democratic rival John Kerry with politicizing the attacks by
alleging Bush has turned his back on the city, Mehlman added: "The
President's never forgotten. It's a central part of his leadership."
The spots, pegged to the theme of "steady leadership in time of change," do
not mention Kerry. Instead, their uplifting message hopes to refurbish
Bush's battered image after two months of harsh Democratic attacks and a
series of missteps by the normally surefooted White House political
apparatus.
"We've been off our game for weeks," a senior Bush strategist conceded.
"Thank goodness, there's plenty of time to get well, and plenty of grist to
chop Kerry down to size."

A pattern of deception
A hard truth appears to have escaped the notice of the public and received
scant attention from the media: Bush is the first president in American
history to use deceptive propaganda as his main means of communications in
selling his policies. His pattern of deception continues unabated and in
direct conflict with the notion of the public's informed consent that is
central to American democracy.

I suspect many leftists in this country will be upset over ads depicting the WTC
attack. It will remind the electorate which presidential candidate is willing to
fight evil effectively.
The problem with that theory is Bush has failed to apprehend bin Laden,
Afghanistan isn't stabilized (it is once again pumping heroin on to the
streets of the U.S.), Iraq didn't need to be invaded, (making it an oozing
wound for the long-term) and he failed to protect America when we needed it
most - 911.
Bush was on watch when 3000 Americans were murdered on U.S. soil, not an
enviable acheivement.
He has done a good job of alienating the world in his effort to cover-up his
incompetence.
But the most disgusting thing I've seen is his exploiting 911 to scare and
deceive people into voting for him.

CBS reporter David Martin revealed that weeks before the attacks, the CIA
had warned Bush personally of Osama Bin Laden’s intent to use hijacked
planes as missiles. That followed the damaging exposure by The Associated
Press’s John Solomon of a pre-9/11 FBI memo from an officer in Phoenix
warning of suspicious Middle Eastern men training at flight schools—a
warning that went unheeded.

after the war, I am certain that had we taken all of Iraq, we would
have been like the dinosaur in the tar pit - we would still be there,
and we, not the United Nations, would be bearing the costs of
the occupation. This is a burden I am sure the beleaguered
American taxpayer would not have been happy to take on."

Take a Hero."
Bush is not doing anything that clinton didn't do for
the 1996 election after the OKC bombing.
Hypocrite!
I don't remember Clinton running ads with OKC as the central theme of his
re-election campaign. In fact I don't remember Clinton using any OKC
material during his campaign.
Prove that he did and what context he used them in.
OKC was a terrorist strike by rightwing extremists with alleged ties to the
Aryan Republican Army. It is doubtful any president would want to use it for
campaigning.

Both the FBI supervisor who ran the Oklahoma City investigation and the
veteran agent who was in command at the bombing scene say the new evidence,
detailed in documents obtained by The Associated Press, is serious enough to
warrant reopening the inquiry nine years later.
The evidence, never shared with Oklahoma City investigators or defense
lawyers, includes documents showing the Aryan Republican Army bank robbers
possessed explosive blasting caps similar to those McVeigh stole and a
driver's license possibly stolen during the bombing plot.

Osama Bin Laden supports Kerry, shouldn't you?
Your opinion/misinformation with nothing to prove it at this point.
Is your memory bad, or are you just a damned liar?
In other words you're full of shit.
If you are correct, Kerry has a chance. If I am correct, Bush will probably win.
We will wait and see in November.

What does this have to do with the price of tea in China?

The world is not alienated. Some probably are, but that's to be expected when
bold action is taken against evil.

And my point is the people need to be reminded that there are dangerous people
in this world who want to kill Americans, and let them decide if Bush or Kerry
would do a better job concerning security. A reminder of what happened on 9/11
is a legitimate method for reminding people of what these terrorists are capable
of doing.
ciao,

Ahhhh yes ... the old "if you don't agree with me you're stupid" routine.
Yeah.........that's why his administration has prosecuted and convicted more
business leaders for fraud than the last 10 presidents combined.
Pretty laughable statement you have made there......I am sure the following
people would disagree with you
Scott Sullivan, David Myers,Bernard Ebbers,C.E. Andrews, Don Currin, David
Duncan, Gary Winnick,Sam Waksal, Marth Stewart.
Again the facts speak for themselves. I hope everyone is watching what he is
doing instead of listening to what the liberal pukes are saying about him.

Doesn't our Constitution's Preamble say "...provide for the common
defense, promote the general welfare..."? Our Liberal "friends" would
rather us believe it's "promote the common defense, provide general
welfare.......".

Bwaaahaaaahaaaa! what a laughable LIE. Where's Kenny Lay fascist?
Everybody in the entire world knows he's a crook - he destroyed
thousands of lives. But because he's a big bush contributor, he's
free as a bird. And he's just the very tip of the crooked CEO
iceburg.
no, it's the old "I'll clip out the entire argument because I can't
rebut it" routine.
How many did Clintoon prosecute? (snicker-snicker-snicker). Even Terry
McAuliffe got a break....they just couldn't prove anything. Ask the
investors of Global Crossing how they feel about getting screwed by the head
of the DNC.
