Pfizer will close Research and development Labs...

Looks like they see the coming of Obama/Pelosi health care. Your health
care will be the loser for that one, but the immediate loss will be more
jobs lost. The entire Health care industry that will be hurt by Obama
care will begin to bail and fire workers and close any unique services
and products operations since government won't be buying any cutting
edge medical care for you.

I had stock in Pfizer years ago and I'm sure glad I am out of that.
They will be killed by Obama care. Any health care company will be
trashed by Obama care.

Obama is destroying our last world class industry, the government has
destroyed our Manufacturing and our natural resource, mining and every
other income generating industry. This is the Government destruction of
the health care industry, our final successful income producing industry.

What will the GDP be when Government runs the health care? GDP will NOT
rise with government health care. This is the government allowing Old
Glory to die and refusing to allow the country to continue to live.
Pfizer is shrinking in the face of Government health care, not expanding
and the GDP will shrink not expand.

They will no doubt profit from the extension of insured health care
to 40,000,000 more people.

Pfizer makes pay out to executives who carried out the drug maker's acquisition
of Wyeth.o top executives lucrative
cash and stock bonuses for their roles in executing the recently completed $67.3

Chief Financial Officer Frank D'Amelio will receive a $1.2 million award and Ian

million, the drugmaker said in a U.S. securities filing.

The compensation committee of the board of directors "determined that these

Nonsense. Another display of the low intelligence of Republicans.

There was an article in today's Wall Street Journal which mentioned
Pfizer. Several years ago the Supreme Court heard a case called Kelo
vs. City of New London, where it ruled that eminent domain could be
used to seize private property for private development.

The plaintiffs in the case were the private homeowners who had their
homes seized, and the defendant was the city of New London which
argued that the new private development would bring in higher tax
revenues, and enhance property values throughout the city.

After the SC ruled in the city's favor, the seized homes were
bulldozed in anticipation of this fabulous new business/housing
complex. The anchor for the planned development was a Pfizer R&D lab,
which has now been canceled. The once thriving neighborhood is now a
giant empty lot, of no benefit to anyone.

Another reason I will never again buy any Pfizer stock, they want to
step on my personal property rights.

I don't buy their products either.

I'm ticked at the USSC for allowing it

The 5th amendment prohibits the public taking of private property
without just compensation (and applies to the states through 14th
Amendment incorporation).

Amendment V applies to the taking for public use. The Pfizer case
wasn't about public use, therefore the supreme Court had no jurisdiction.

The 14th's due process clause by itself (with no reference to the 5th)
forbids the deprivation of property without due process. It is arguable
(and I am persuaded) that a taking by the government for other than
public use presumptively violates due process.

That's not arguable at all.

Either they were afforded due process, or they weren't. The reason is
irrelevant.

That's only because he's an agenda driven right wing pinhead, not a
capitalist.

The pretend capitalists ideologues like him are a dime a dozen around
here and they demonstrate why they aren't capitalists with every post
like the egg he just laid here. The Limbaugh loving Bush worshipers
think that because they listen to Rush and vote Republican, that it
somehow bestows knowledge of capitalism on them without effort.

I'm referring to the substantive component of due process that SCOTUS
has adopted. Namely, "due process" can be denied based solely on the
content of the law itself (no regard to a judicial process).

Yes, I suspect you reject this reasoning. But you asked which clause
incorporates the Fifth. According to SCOTUS, it is the substantive
component of due process. So, if we accept what SCOTUS says about
incorporation, then we must also accept the substantive component of
due process.

But instead let's reject SCOTUS precedent about incorpoartion. In
this case, the privileges and immunites clause of the 14th can be used
on its own (no reference to the 5th) as the basis for hearing this
case. That is, it might be the case that one of the privileges and
immunites of citizenship is not have property taken for private use.

Not quite.... I don't blame them for cutting American workers and
assets. just the opposite, it is Obama(the Democrats) that are creating
an environment that is toxic to business.

I am an environmentalist and I fight for the Capitalist environment. To
keep it clean from the pollution of socialist man.

Just like Obama you know what's best for everyone and you intend to see
they are forced into it whether they like it or NOT.

Socialists like you, are economic morons, if you understood economics
you could see it for your self and you wouldn't be a socialist.

You're the ones that voted for the *Harvard Village Idiot* Obama has no
clue about economics and he is the leader of the Socialist. You all know
from the top one down that economics is useless in Socialism and you
ignore the entire subject and "read your little red Mao book" through
the economics course instead of listening to the professor.

I wish I could offer a contradiction to your opinion,
but in the real world outside DC, wall street, and the
budgeted institutions, there is almost no money
circulating, and the amount of money circulating
is the life blood of any free economy.

Somethings got to give, the direction must
change, the present course appears headed into
unknown territory.

Uh, communism is not socialism. Not surprised at you, however, as
you'd even consider laws banning slavery anti-capitalist and socialist.

It may be unknown to some, but Socialism is a "top down" economy with
the government calling the shots. Does it look familiar now that you
have been told that?

We've been here before. The 10th only says that which isn't delegated
is left to the states. The prohibition on the states to not abridge
Privileges and Immunities are delegated. The scope of the delegated
"privileges and immunities" has nothing at all to do with the 10th.
