Kim Yong Nam meets delegation of English political party

Pyongyang, February 19 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Nam, member of the political bureau of the
Central Committee of the Worker's Party of Korea and President of the presidium of the
DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, met and had a talk with a delegation of the New
Communist Party of Great Britain headed by its general secretary Andy Brooks at the
Mansudae Assembly Hall
today.
The head of the delegation said that his party greatly treasures the friendly relations
with the WPK, adding that the activities of the WPK successfully building Korean-style
socialism by thoroughly applying the principles of socialism as a science serve as a model
for all the revolutionary parties of the world.
He noted that his party would extend invariable support and solidarity to the WPK and
Korean people in the struggle to defend socialism.

Should anybody be confused, the party referred to is the New Communist Party
(which split from the CPGB in 1977), not the Morning Star CPB or the Weekly
Worker CPGB. The latter two are often visibly active on the left but you get
lots of I-Spy points for the NCP.

Credit where credit's due. There was a National Car Park's banner on the
Blair Peach Commemoration march in Southall last summer. The opening rally
was in a car park.

Nice to see my old mate Andy getting into the news. The last time I saw
Andy -- who, newsgroup readers may like to know, even looks like his hero
Stalin -- was in a pub at Clapham Junction where he was eagerly trying to
flog everyone copies of Korea Today, or some such thing. Apparently, it was
part of the deal with North Korea. The North Koreans gave the NCP a few
quid, and the NCP had to try to sell North Korean English-language
propaganda sheets to the proletariat in Britain. Needless to say, Andy's
efforts were largely in vain, the papers were awful -- triumphal pieces on
the opening of a fertiliser plant somewhere or another in North Korea, how
goldfish couldn't survive in Seoul's putrid water, but could in Pyongyang's
pure supply (I am not kidding), and so on.
