I saw about 200 images of the 550 or so before Yahoo crashed,
presumably from overload of people looking at those images.

Some impressions:

1. I was happy to see the waters have largely receded. Most people are
contending with no more than waist high water. There are reports of
expected new raising though.

2. There are picture after picture of mile after mile after mile
totally leveled, like hundreds of huge bombs had hit or a swarm of
bulldozers had descended. There is nothing left standing. The amount
of damage is way, way bigger than 9/11.

3. There a major bridge with every span collapsed.

4. there are railway cars tossed like matchsticks and commercial
building tossed about like children's blocks. Boats look like piles
of pumpkin seeds. Water can do a lot more damage than wind alone.

5. No team of terrorists could do this much damage in 100 years even
if you gave them a subsidy. Bush has the wrong priorities when he cut
all the funding to prevent this disaster to pay for the Iraq war.

6. Everyone is homeless, pushing their meager belongings along on some
makeshift raft or cart.

7. The cleanup is going to be difficult. In many places nobody has any
place to live while they work. Anyone involved in reconstruction is
going to need some sort of temporary housing.

8. The awesome power and huge affected area of this disaster invites
imagination that it was the retribution of some divine power for
America's transgressions, or then again it could be wakeup call you
can't ignore the effects of greenhouse gas emissions.

So you are blaming God and Bush for this disaster.

I also try to wonder why Katrina had to hit at the heart of American
Oil. Is it becuase of America's greed for oil??? If Mother Nature is
God and God is intelligent..then He sure must have an intelligent
reason to do something like that. But in any case, this is certainly a
huge setback much worse than any kind of war or terroist act. It seems
like a massacre without a single bullet fired!

Lincoln did. Well, not Bush, but he basically said
that the civil war was punishment from God for 250 years
of slavery. They engraved it to his left on his memorial.

Robertson of course claimed that such things would befall
Orlando for allowing gay pride flags to be flown on city
street lamps. Again, claiming that God would use hurricanes
as punishment.

And to some extent it is the claim of "intelligent design".
I mean, they don't explicitly outline exactly what parts
God designed, but it is hard to explain how he could intervene
to create the human brain, but somehow hurricanes are just
"accidents of nature".

It's the hard part about assigning specific acts to God,
it implies that other ones must also be of his bidding.
Many were careful prior to land fall to request "prayers"
for New Orleans, but not for it to "go somewhere else".
Yet that is exactly what it did. It avoided "Sin City"
of New Orleans but hit right in the heart of the "Bible
Belt". It is notable though that it wiped out alot of
casinos, which may have a certain Sodom and Gomorrah
flavor to it all.

According to the preachings of that loon, if his car gets a flat it's GW's
fault.
And he's a F'n canuk.

Since I am an atheist, I am not about to blame God. Bush I do blame.
There was a long post explaining why. He pulled all kinds of
scheduled anti-flood projects to pay for his useless Iraq war.

Your fantasy might be interesting except that it is based on an
incorrect concept. New Orleans and the adjacent area are important in
the processing of oil but hardly the heart. That is more Lake Charles
thru Houston. I doubt that God is so geographically challenged that she
would get it that wrong.

God doesn't effect the weather, Satan does!!!

Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world,
according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh
in the children of disobedience:--Ephesians 2:2
http://philologos.org/bpr/files/misc_studies/ms029.htm

He is also called "the dragon," "the old serpent" (Revelation 12:9; 20:2);
"the prince of this world" (John 12:31; 14:30); "the prince of the power of
the air" (Ephesians 2:2); "the god of this world" (2 Corinthians 4:4); "the
spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience" (Ephesians 2:2).

Rev 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called
the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into
the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

Rev 12:12 Therefore rejoice, [ye] heavens, and ye that dwell in them.
Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come

down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a

short time.

The devil is the god of this world, he commands the sea and the air
