Here is your challenge:
Name three things you LIKE about the candidate that you're NOT voting
for. Then, name three things you DON'T LIKE about the guy you ARE
voting for.
They can be minor things or major things, but let's try and stay away
from obvious bullshit like "he's got nice teeth." Oh, and also "HE'S
NOT BUSH!"
Let's also just focus on the top of the ticket.
Here's mine:
Not voting for Obama:
1. Obama is a Clintonesque speaker when he's up on the podium. It's
easy to see why so many "low information voters" buy into him based on
that fact alone.
2. As noted here:
http://tinyurl.com/barryprops
I really liked what he had to say when speaking to the NAACP. That
took some courage for him to do and I applaud him for it.
3. He said the right things in regards to the kids being off-limits
in the campaign mudslinging.
Voting for McCain:
1. I don't like his "amnesty" stance.
2. I think he's not stressed the issues of Rev. Wright, the 2nd
Amendment and military spending enough in his campaign.
3. I wish he had called the media to the carpet months sooner on
their bias.
Pro Obama
1. Good family man. Kids, wife (and I'll bet she's high
maintenance), mother, grand-parents all seem to be close.
2. Excellent public speaker I'm not sure how much of the substance
of what he says is his but the delivery is almost hypnotic.
3. Public service. I suppose if I wasn't a conservative I would have
had this higher.....its just not a field I consider that impressive.
Pro McCain
1. Love of country. Military service...POW. His rehtoric when he
speaks about the country and the people that protect it is genuine.
2. Stand on "earmarks". "Pork barrel spending" is no more than
legalized bribes to keep incumbents in power.
3. Position on taxes He was correct when he opposed the Bush tax
cuts in 2001 in deference to keeping the budget balalnced and he is
right now that raisng taxes (which is what Obama will do as opposed to
what he will say) will hurt the economy
Anti Obama
1. Socialist. So much farther left than most of the country.
2. Poor choices for associates. Terroists are not good people to
party with
3. Disingenuous has no problem changing stances based on his
audience.
Only three?... :(
Anti McCain
1. Amnesty stance. (If they weren't illegal why would they need
amnesty?)
2. Doesn't have deep understanding of the issues...especially
economic.
3. Doesn't seem to be a great husband.....either time
Not an easy exercise. Probably better suited for the more long winded
among us.
I'm like warm at best for McCain and ice cold toward Obama but I was
honest and tried to be fair
Pro Obama:
1.) Harvard Law Grad - very intelligent young man who has a strong
grasp of the law, barring his own biases of course.
2.) Ambitious and a Good Speaker - like a young Clinton.
3.) Good basketball player
Anti-Obama
1.) Flip-flopper on his stances. The whole denial about the Rev.
Wright thing and the other anti-American radicals that he's associated
himself with over the past two decades.
2.) Lack of Experience. 143 days as a Junior Senator before running
for President.
3.) His rhetoric doesn't match his voting record. For example he
claims he's pro 2nd Amendment but his voting record shows that he's
one of the most anti-gun politicians the Senate has ever seen. Phony.
I could go on but you asked for three...
Pro McCain
1.) Military experience/POW experience. 1st hand experience of what
it's like to be in a conflict and to suffer from that. Has a son in
the military so he actually has a stake in this war turning out well.
You couldn't buy that experience. In fact he was one of the outspoken
opponents of torturing when the whole Abu Graihb fiasco started and I
admire him for that.
2.) Lower taxes
3.) Years of experience
Anit-McCain
1.) Associated himself with Jabba the Kennedy to make that Amnesty
bill. I personally do not believe in Amnesty for illegal aliens.
2.) The Keating Five scandal. He was never convicted of anything
except for poor judgement and taking a ride on an airplane a couple of
times. Shame on him.
3.) Maybe a little too pro-military, but that goes hand-in-hand with
just being decisive.
Mike
My Anti-McCain three:
1. Wrong laundry. His party of greed, corruption, incompetenece, lying,
cheating and stealing has failed this country miserably and need to be
gone. All of them at every level, right down to the janitor.
2. The McCain that was no longer is. What I once thought of as a man of
character has shown himself to be a major mud-slinging sleazeball, or at
very least has alowed his party to present him that way, which makes him
weak. It also shows poor judgement, backed up by his choice as Trailer
Trash Barbie as a running mate.
3. Old, with recurring cancer. Given the massive black hole his party
would be handing to him, he'd be lucky to last a year. Think Barbie could
take it from there? Probably not.

So, given the "ground rules" laid out here, you're voting for McCain
then?
I presume that to be the case since the "challenge" was to say *good*
things about the guy you're not voting for and *bad* things about the
guy you are.
As it is, your entry is just more of the same from you - bashing Mac
(and Palin). We can get that anywhere here.
I could tear you several new assholes based on your posts in this
thread, but what's the point - you've made yourself look bad enough
with them as it is.
FAIL.
that's 3 good things about barry, 1 bad thing about mccain, and 2 bad
things about the mccain campaign. couldn't think of 2 more things you
don't like about your candidate?
>This idea has been kicking around in my head for months now and with
>the election just 72ish hours away, I think it's a good time to
>present this.

+++++++
I can only think of one thing I liked about McCain. In the
Republican primaries, he treated Mitt "the Carpetbagger" Romney, the
man so flexible in his positions that a New Hampshire newspaper's
editorial endorsement in the NH primary was "anybody but Romney", with
the utter disdain Romney deserved.
And in balance, I will name one thing I don't like about Obama. His
suits. It looks like he owns only one or two. He needs more
variety. Maybe somebody from the RNC Sarah Palin dress up team can
advise him.
Sorry, but those *are* slights on McCain - for how he's run his
campaign.
Just like the "kids are off limits" Obama plus is about how he's opted
to run his campaign.
Peter - again "shorts" when trying to make a point.
DUMB!!!
:D
