Spanish, not Mexican or Hispanic. Tijuana represents today's Hispanic
demographic, not old Santa Barbara.

The people in Spanish Colonial America southwest
were the ancestors of todays Mexican Americans
and other "Hispanics".

The Spanish recruited from the region they were
in, i.e. while in the southwest or California the
locals were recruited. Who do you think the locals
were? Easy, the locals were Native Americans, some Blacks,
and a sprinkling of Espanoles/Spaniards from the
Iberian peninsula.

They were Mexican by blood.

The Spanish built the Presidio and the various missions along El
Camino Real. The Russians claimed Northern California. "Hispanic" is
a term invented by the U.S. Census Bureau to create another "victim"
class for purposes of affirmative action and quotas in colleges and
work places. "Hispanics" did not build the missions or Presidio,
Spanish people from Europe did, perhaps with Indians they enslaved and
raped and beat and tortured.

So who were the Spanish at that time, I'm talking about
the people. Who were the people in the American Colonies
and in the Spanish Armies? They were the ancestors of
todays "Hispanics"/Mexicans, further they were mestizo, i.e.
Native American or Native American and Mexican. There
were very vew from Spain the Spanish Iberian Peninsula.

Most non "Hispanics" have been under one flag and
that is the USofAmerican flag (in the USofA)

Not so with "Hispanics" from the southwestern USofA who have been
under
at least three flags; the Spanish flag, the Mexican flag and
the USofAmerican flag. Before the Spaniards came we were under
Native American tribal rule; many "Hispanics" are Zuni, Isletta, Hope,
Navajo, Apache, ect ect.

In other words, persons under Colonial 'Spanish' rule
were usually not of 'Spanish' blood, i.e.
those from the Spanish Iberian Peninsula but were
are Native American.

I believe you know this, but you try and spin it to
fit your anti-Mexican agenda.

People like Father Junipero Sera. Spanish explorers who "discovered"
Santa Barbara, San Francisco, etc.. (Note the spelling. It's "etc.",
not "ect."

They were not Hispanics then. They were no more Hispanic than the
Zulus were Afrikaner or Hong Kong residents were British prior to the
arrival of the Europeans, or after their arrival.

We agree on that point.

Not anti-Mexican. I similarly suspect that your spin is to try to
make it appear that illegal aliens have some right to invade
California from Mexico or other parts of Latin America under the false
premise that they were previously in California or Arizona. Once you
go there, then one could claim Russians should be able to move freely
to Alaska and Northern California because centuries ago they had some
small presence in those areas. Or we could argue that because the
Vikings had some small presence in Canada centuries ago that the
Danish should be able to just move in and claim the territory as
theirs, demanding that Canadians speak Danish or "go back to
Europe."

I was born in California, and so was my father, my grandfather, and
great grandfather. There is a beautiful legacy that the Spanish left
in California -- and Americans have succeeded in destroying just about
everything that was beautiful about California through urban sprawl
and uncontrolled growth, in my opinion. To be honest, I think
California would have been better off if it had remained under the
Spanish crown. But that's water under the bridge. Immigration in the
last 30 years has merely amplified the environmental damage to
California and Arizona, for that matter.

Having recently been to Baja California, I can only surmise that the
mushrooming population of Mexicans in Alta California will turn it
into a dirty, overpopulated, poor mirror of Mexico. As Dalton Trumbo
said, "When you first go to Mexico you are struck by the poverty. As
you stay in Mexico you realize that the poverty is contagious."

Take care, Repo, and Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones.

Will they restore the dungeons where they tortured and killed the
natives too?

The Reservation Native Americans were in fact almost
eliminated by "Anglo America".

Not so with "Hispanic U.S. ofAmerica"
*If "they had killed the natives" why is the
blood line of most southwestern "hispanics and Mexicans"
more indigenous than anything else? Heck, more
"Hispanics" ARE by blood Native American Indigenous
Americans. We are at more than 13 million in the USofAmerican
states and over 100,000 Native American Indigenous people
of Mexico and those who have a sprinkling of European.

The Native Americans were the "Soldados". The 'Spanish' soldiers
were more Native American by blood than anything else.

Spain recruited from the locals, and who do you suppose the
locals were? The locals were Native American Indigenous Indians
who were mostly Native American by blood, there were very few
Spaniards from the Spanish Iberian Peninsula in the southwest "USofA"
or Mexico.

Ya notice that almost all illegals making the trek to El Norte (because the
socialist society in Mexico sucks when it comes to wealth and job creation)
are amerindian or mestizos by appearance. Few if any appear European. Any
Mexicans or other amerindians here care to explain?

Happy New Year.

No Surrender!
