PRESIDENT AND MRS. CLINTON HOST CHANCELLOR KOHL AT OFFICIAL DINNER

The President and Mrs. Clinton are hosting German Chancellor Helmut
Kohl at a White House Official Dinner today (Feb. 9).

The black tie dinner will begin at 7:15 p.m. with the arrival of
Chancellor Kohl at the South Portico of the White House.

Dinner guests will begin to arrive at 7 p.m. at the East Executive
Entrance of the White House. They will be escorted to the East Room for
cocktails and will be entertained by the Washington Sangerbund German A
Capella Chorus.

Guests will be received by the President and Mrs. Clinton, and
Chancellor Kohl in the Grand Foyer of the White House. Following the
receiving line, the President and Mrs. Clinton will escort Chancellor
Kohl into the State Dining Room.

The tables in the State Dining Room will be set with the Reagan China,
vermeil flatware and Morgantown Crystal on a damask terra cotta rose and
golden table cloth. The floral center pieces feature cream roses, terra
cotta roses, red florabunda and vegetated pittosporum in vermeil
containers. The center pieces will be surrounded by four, 11-inch
classic gold candle sticks with 24-inch cream tapers.

Following the dinner, the guests will be entertained by singer Tony
Bennett. Bennett will be accompanied by Ralph Sharon on the piano,
Clayton Cameron on the drums and Doug Richeson on the bass.

At the conclusion of the entertainment, the President and Mrs. Clinton
will escort Chancellor Kohl to the South Portico for his departure.
Guests will be invited to continue the evening with dancing in the Grand
Foyer.

Chancellor Kohl:

Herb roasted pheasant breast with wild mushroom risotto
and tomato basil coulis

Pan seared salmon loin with key lime and ginger

Oriental vegetable confetti and rice noodle crisps

Marinated goat's cheese and vegtable terrine with young
greens and balsamic dressing

Coffee and roasted hazelnut ice mold
Cinnamon sabayon and light chocolate sauce
Basket of macaroons
