This is what the rightwingnut fascist slobs have turned this country into. A student can't even ask a question without being put under arrest - and they automatically TASER him.>>>You will notice that as the polite university student was asking the question, the blue shirt thugs beside him both look to their left at the same time and then are clearly given an order by the man wearing a tie who is standing behind them. This man then takes the microphone from the student as he is grabbed by the man and woman in blue shirts.
Then the attack begins in earnest. The student has done nothing wrong except to ask a proper question from the microphone during the question session. There was no reason to attack him. The student is grabbed as Kerry tries to answer the question.
Notice how not one single student gets up to come to the defense of the student who is seized by 4 or 5 blue shirts who then TASER him while he is restrained. This is the sad state of affairs in the United States today. Even university students today have become as docile as lambs being led to the slaughter. At what point would these student have decided that a mass protest was required? When they are lined up against the wall?
These students should have protested vigorously this violent abuse of the student's freedom of speech. The attack on him for asking his question was an assault on all Americans freedom of speech. If ten or twenty students had risen from their soft chairs and protected this fine young man in his moment of need things would have turned rather differently. These blue shirt thugs would have been chased off the campus.<<<

As usual, your representation of the facts leave something to be desired.
"He apparently asked several questions -- he went on for quite awhile -- then he was asked to stop," university spokesman Steve Orlando said. "He had used his allotted time. His microphone was cut off, then he became upset."
As two officers take Meyer by the arms, Kerry is heard to say, "That's alright, let me answer his question." Audience members applaud, and Meyer struggles to escape for several seconds as up to four officers try to remove him from the room.
Meyer screams for help and asks "What did I do?" as he tries to break away from officers. He is forced to the ground and officers order him to stop resisting. Meyer says he will walk out if the officers let him go.
As Kerry tells the audience he will answer the student's "very important question," Meyer struggles on the ground and yells at the officers to release him, crying out, "Don't Tase me, bro," just before he is Tasered. He is then led from the room, screaming, "What did I do?"
I'm no big fan of the strong arm tactics used by the police these days. But anyone with any sense knows that when the guys with guns and badges show up, you don't resist, fight, and try to negotiate with them. You either choose to fight or you do what they ask. The former is a guarenteed way of finding ones way to jail, usually with bruises. We've passed laws to give them these powers. Either change the laws, or get used to the feeling of 30,000 volts.

That is complete and utter bullshit, and it is a perfect example of the pussification of the United States.
Look at the damn video!
The guy asked the question, and Kerry asked the cops to leave him alone and let him answer. Note that, at that time, the guy was already surrounded by police.
THEY started it, not the questioner. For some reason, we have gotten to the point that people can't raise their voice anymore; they can't address people in service TO US, without being manhandled and wrestled to the floor. it's absurd. Let people ask their questions, and let them demand answers. if you want to know why people are angrier, it's because they're constantly being told to shut the hell up. John Kerry works for that Student, NOT the other way around.
As for your characterization at the end, essentially, what you're advocating is that people cede power to the police. The cops work for US, not the other way around. The job of the police is to keep order, not to intimidate. according to the Constitution, in order to take you into custody, they have to have probable cause that a crime has been committed. What crime did that student commit? is there a law against shouting questions at a US Senator and demanding an answer? No. In fact, just the opposite. The First Amendment actually PROTECTS your right to shout out questions to Senator Kerry, and demands that the police (government) allow you to do so.
And I'm sorry, but if anyone who is being wrongly held against his will, without a crime being committed, we owe it to that person to fight for him, not in favor of the police. That is way too much power to hand over to law enforcement.
If anything, Senator Kerry should have been more forceful, and demanded that the police unhand the guy and leave him alone. For you to excuse the police when they are clearly overstepping their bounds is frightening... there is no excuse for that sort of behavior.

Kerry sure as hell didn't get down from the stage to intervene did he? He sure as hell didn't answer why he wasn't in favor of impeaching Bush and sure as hell didn't answer whether he was in a secret club with George Bush.

Bullshit. Just another case of the Dems having their own supporters arrested for questioning them. More and more Dem supporters are realizing the full extent of the conjob that has been pulled on them by the sham of a two party system, and they are HORRIFIED.

I did. The video doesn't even start until he has been talking a while. The cops are already looking around for direction. The guy in the suit is already looking concerned. The video has been edited to avoid exposing that the guy went way beyond his time alotment.
> The guy asked the question, and Kerry asked the cops to leave him > alone and let him answer. Note that, at that time, the guy was already > surrounded by police.
Exactly. The video may have not even been started recording until the situation was clearly beginning to escalate.
I don't really defend the actions. To a great degree anyone knows if you're gonna take questions from the audience, you're gonna get these guys. But folks in charge of these events are very worried about them spinning out of control and cops tend to act first and think second.

Yeah, on first whiff, it appears the bananas set it up.
But, the cops are pretty stupid, not even having the interpersonal skills to defuse the situation. Straight to taser, because the morons are hysterical cowards, unable to comprehend the power of persuasion, and act accordingly. For god's sake, there were at least eight cops there, to the one unarmed man. Nothing better than a constantly frightened sto0py head with a gun, ya know?
Stupid tasers should be banned, and the stupid cops, fired.

Hey, they did us a favor, confirming what we already know. That the Dems won't hesitate to have their own supporters arrested, tasered and God knows what else, for questioning their political agenda and motives now that they have been elected. They all need to be run out of town and democracy needs to be reclaimed by the people, and this two-party sham thrown on the trash heap of history.

Did you even SEE the 2004 election?
This can't come as a surprise...
BTW I said this toward the end of my response. But it goes to this whole bullshit mentality, in which the people who work for US are given the authority over us. It really has to stop...

<yawn> you still here?
there are lots of third parties... why don't you go adopt one, and leave us adults alone?

Numerous protesters were removed, attacked and arrested during speeches by Bush during the past seven years and not one word for the right wing nuts.
I think it's appalling. The police should have better instructions on dealing with people other than arresting them or worse. The GOP has given us a police state and now Dems are getting blamed for it.
Kerry's response:
"In 37 years of public appearances, through wars, protests and highly emotional events, I have never had a dialogue end this way. I believe I could have handled the situation without interruption, but I do not know what warnings or other exchanges transpired between the young man and the police prior to his barging to the front of the line and their intervention. I asked the police to allow me to answer the question and was in the process of responding when he was taken into custody. I was not aware that a taser was used until after I left the building. I hope that neither the student nor any of the police were injured. I regret enormously that a good healthy discussion was interrupted."
Is a speaker responsible for the actions of the police during that event? Of course not. Is he responsible for the actions of the speaker. Of course not.
Don't forget that under Bush there were specific instructions to keep protesters away from Bush and his motorcade.

Is that it? That your "rebuttal"? Kerry didn't respond and murmured platitudes from the podium while the kid was dragged off and tasered. Why shoudn't he be able to ask why Kerry didn't fight the result, vote for impeachment and whether he was in a secret club for rich kids? What are you, a Neocon apparatchik masquearading as a Dem??

He should have been able to, you fucking twit! I even SAID that... you know... in the part your jerking knee snipped, so he could respond to the first paragraph in a condescending, yet incoherent way. I give you credit... it's difficult to pull off both condescending and incoherent.
Tell you what... why don't you read what I originally wrote, and respond to that. I only request that, because you have yet to respond to a fucking thing I actually SAID.
BTW, the police in this case are being disciplined, and the situation is under review. As they should be...

Is your goal to be just like the Wingnuts? If so, you're succeeding brilliantly.

Indeed bongo geetar man you ASSume too much ensuring that you are just another silly demo-fascist jackass.
At U Florida you can be sure that the students, faculty and security were all leftwingnuts - Democratic Fascists just like you.
Just think how, after he sues for assault and false arrest, he gets a free ride right up to a doctorate. And there is a conservative group that will pay the legal bills and make sure he gets the best counsel.

This fellow, Meyer, appears to make a habit of being rude and obnoxious so he can film people's responses. Before condemning the university think about civility and behavior in public. Sadly people feel they have a right to do whatever they want where ever they want, hell "Borat" ( Cohen)made a movie of it. He baited people with his obnoxious comments and actions then made a fortune off their responses while condemning them. Typical of those that just want to raise awareness.

And Senator Kerry just let the whole thing transpire, no doubt he has some plausible deniability excuse (I didn't know what was going on). Political types, stand-up comics, all kinds of public speakers have to deal with hecklers and agitators all the time. Police, especially campus police, ought to be trained in how to de-escalate such confrontations long before handcuffs or even tasers are needed. The outcome may not have been planned by Kerry, but he has hardly been critical of it. Conspiracy or coincidence? You decide. -- Galen Hekhuis ghekh...@earthlink.net Illiterate? Write for FREE help
