Consumer prices slowed in April despite the biggest jump in food costs
in nearly two decades.
But with oil near record levels, Americans should brace for more pain
at the pump in coming months.

wanted ethanol, and who promised to see to lower oil prices during the 2006
elections.........
.
brazil feeds itself, and exports ethanol. its speculation that has
driven up commodity prices, as well as free market fundamentalism and
free trade that has destroyed small farmers all over the world. your
response, is a embarrassment.

Absolutely correct about ethanol.
Oil has skyrocketed because Bush intentionally devalued the dollar.
Foreign investors flooded the stock market when saw that they could
get massive return thru the value of their foreign currency.
BTW, intentionally devaluing the currency is government theft. People
with significant liquidity in savings have taken the biggest hit from
this organized theft. The dollar is absolutely *not* the place to
have your savings.
What are the Democrats in Congress doing about this?!?!?
You want globalization? You want no taxes? You want to ship my job to
India? You got it.

You've lost me. What I described is an intentional devaluation of the
dollar by bush. How does that tie into globalization? Or taxes? Or
shipping your job overseas?
I absolutely think we need strong unions, a massively strong
manufacturing base, protective tarriffs on imports to level the
cost-of-living playing field.
After those things, I think we need some trials and a huge necktie
party for the politicos trying to destroy our country. Make no
mistake about it - free trade and globalization without equalizing
tarriffs will destroy every remaining fragment of this country.

The value of the dollar is what buys the crap from China and India. If
dollars ain't worth spit than the Chinese and the Indians will not labor
on behalf of Americans. This would imply that Americans will need to do
their own labor.

The time for that has passed. Labor unions are passe because they failed
to unite. They still fail to be inclusive and they still fail to unite.
They are exclusive clubs that serve the "CEO's" if you will, of the
various unions. Their attack on the "owners of the means of production" is
fragmented and as such they simply drive production offshore in one
segment of manufacturing or production after the other. The hierarchy
of each union refuses to share power and that means that unions are gone.
They are the pawns of the political parties and that is all they are.
I would recommend that all the unions adopt ONE acid test issue and unite
around it and perhaps you can get something done. Battling each
manufacturing or service sector one at a time is a loser.

I will not argue the point. But the current form of unions is not doing
any good whatsoever. Think up something that will actually work.
because it is worth money.

i never compared it to the united states. and we have massive poverty
and hunger here. the food banks in america are being over whelmed.

Clean sweep of all the current union players and all the current
political players?
Yet you replied....
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!
The answer actually does lie in "solidarity". It is just a different and
more inclusive and expansive solidarity and the union bosses are not
capable of it.
yes I did... because you are to stupid to figure out no one pays diddly
to your ignorance...
Welcome to the American Weimar Republic!! Hyperinflation, failed
wars, no international respect, a worthless currency.
So, where's Adolf?
Except you....
