Kind of stereotyping Americans here, aren't you? I for one do not
care if someone speaks English with an accent or has a little problem
with pronunciation at least they are making the effort to speak it.

(A) The owner of a group of hairdressing shops in Florida, tried to get
his hired help to speak Only English to the customers. The hairdressers
went enmass to Court to decide the legality of the Owner's requirement.
By the time it was over the hairdressers not only could speak their
Spanish language, but each was awarded "damages" of IIRC, $ 65,000 to
each disgruntled employee!.
(B) Many years ago, in Arlington, VA the Southland Corp tried to get
their 7--11 employees in Arlington. to speak only English when customers
were present, otherwise, they could speak any language that they wanted.
To me, this certainly seemed as a Reasonable requirement. But the
Arrogance,, this Contempt for Americans and English, held by the
immigrant hired help led to a complaint & ruling by the Arlington Human
Rights Commission, that, the English language requirement was
"Discrimination Against National Origin!!
Did you ever hear of anything so Crazy?
In future years it will be remembered that such rulings were the ones
that set Rows of Nails in the Coffin Lid of democracy, that finally
ended it!! Peacefully or otherwise.
There's no question that Time & Events will end democracy in this
country just as it has been ended all down through history after
flourishing for a couple of centuries or so. Look at Europe,, look at
Africa. Listen to plato!

this country of ours. The second in importance and numbers, and the
fastest growing, to be precise.
I disagree with special laws for us Spanish speakers, though.
English and Spanish are strong enough, solidly rooted and with a
future impossible to derail, that they don't need the training wheels
that minorities (caucus, Hispanic Chamber of Commerce) need.
Together, we kick the butt of Portuguese and French as the languages
of the American continent, which will become a country. I just hope to

Bullshit. If I were immigrating to Switzerland, I know I'd be
nonfunctional in their job market and society unless I got fluent in
one of their three official languages (German, French, Italian) and

north and south.
They almost universally adopted the languages of their new homelands.

conquered by the enslaving Conquistadores adopted the language of the
invaders, and give their loyalty to the language and culture of their

The spanish language should be actively suppressed in the US.
Introduced foreign languages not only increase the amount of taxes
needed to accomodate additional languages, but also reduce the stand
of living for everyone as well as create societal divisiveness.

Its not that people are demeaning Spanish, but the fact that U.S.
citizens are forced to pay for government assistance publications that
should be in English only as that is the primary language of this
country and is what is taught in school as the primary language. The
only people that need these foreign language publications are those
who shouldn't have access to them in the first place. We don't need
1000's of different language publications. We just need the legal
citizens of this country to assimulate and respect others need for
them to be able to communicate properly with them.

I was one of those "English Only" persons until
historical facts popped up one day, then for a
while my feelings were bewilderment 1) why wasn't
this history taught in school, 2) than anger, why
wasn't I more aware of my surroundings, why didn't
I ask more questions of those around me, 3) then
profound sadness of those who have suffered so much
because of USofAmerican laws which have been circumvented
or simply ignorned.
I don't "hate English". I want the USofAmerican
LAWS followed. That's what I have always done, is
follow the law, and to find out that USofAmerican
Law was circumvented by you Bigots and Klan, I
started to get more involved.

Declaration of Independence and our Constitution were originally
written in English not Spanish and the United States Territory was
purchased or conquered by this English Speaking Country called the
U.S. and was no longer a part of Mexico or Spain. The Native Central
and South Americans did not mostly speak Spanish until they were

took over. Native American languages were also spoken.
Spanish and the Native languages are also protected each

That depends on what your defition of "latino" is.
If your definition is monolingual, then sure, you're right, however the
latinos who have assimilated themselves into the US speak English just
fine and don't necessarily support printing documents in 2 languages or
in holding children back by teaching them in Spanish-only schools.

By the way, I'm Russian by language.
If I do live in the US I can ask the court to make Russian 3rd language,
as well as Chinese people can do.
And, imagine, some people from Russia who wish to move to the USA, will
study Spanish instead of English. (I know some people here who hate
English and love Spanish. I love English and don't like Spanish, but be
afraid - the US may became like Belgium, full of language problems!!!)
The US will fail as the only superpower with two languages.
Why? The main one is English...
And, the US with two languages is something people will laugh on in
Europe in Russia.
But I'm happy: make many languages, you will be like Europe or Russia -
