An 18-year-old Florida student’s senior year has become a
nightmare — all because she was in a same-sex relationship with
a 15-year-old, her family says.

Kaitlyn Hunt was arrested Feb. 16 for having a physical
relationship with a younger classmate, who was her girlfriend at
the time, mom Kelley Hunt Smith wrote on Facebook.

Under Florida law, Hunt could see up to 15 years in prison and
must register as a sex offender. A plea deal, however, remains
on the table that would give Hunt two years' house arrest and
one year of probation, her family said.

“Does my daughter deserve to lose her life for 15 years, or 3
years, or to have no life, because of one choice she made in
high school, absolutely not!!” Hunt Smith wrote Friday, adding,
“This is a mother’s nightmare.”

Fuck you bitch! Your cunt of a daughter stalked and raped a 15-
year-old kid. She should be going to jail!

And yet again, the word "bad decision" as a euphemism for a crime.
Although, admittedly, in this case it's hardly even a crime (and not
one in states with better stat. rape laws, which ususally exempt or
provide much lower penalties when the participants' ages are within
three years of each other.)

But it looks like the DA took this into account, as a good DA should
do. Two years house arrest and one year probation is pretty lenient,
given the tough penalties of the statute.

But flipping the coin again, Hunt Smith - people get a lot harder
punishment for "one bad decision they made in high school" when they
are 18 and the "bad decision" they make is to commit a felony. Like,
life without parole.

In article <eutpp89pk1lm58h11...@4ax.com>,
It's also about the perception that she's 18 and therefore an "adult"
while the other kid is still "child."

And would they care if it was a boy and a girl? There'd probably just be
a lot of yelling.

Let's change the perspective.

Yes. Imagine that were a male being charged instead of a female.
It's a real double standard. Males are typically judged more
harshly than females.
