First, there is adultery. Adultery in the natural sense is sexual
intercourse of a married person with someone other than his or her own
spouse. It is condemned in both the Old and New Testaments (Exodus
20:14; I Cor. 6:9, 10). Christ forbids dwelling upon the thoughts, the
free play of one's imagination that leads to adultery (Matthew 5:28).
Second, there is fornication, the illicit sex acts of unmarried
persons which is likewise forbidden (I Corinthians 5:1; 6:13, 18;
Ephesians 5:3).
Then there is homosexuality which likewise is condemned in Scripture.
The Apostle Paul, writing by inspiration of the Holy Spirit, declares
that homosexuality "shall not inherit the kingdom of God" (I
Corinthians 6:9; 10). Now Paul does not single out the homosexual as a
special offender. He includes fornicators, idolators, adulterers,
thieves, covetous persons, drunkards, revilers and extortioners. And
then he adds the comment that some of the Christians at Corinth had
been delivered from these very practices: "And such were some of you:
But ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the
name of the Lord Jesus, and by the spirit of our God" (I Corinthians
6:11). All of the sins mentioned in this passage are condemned by God,
but just as there was hope in Christ for the Corinthians, so is there
hope for all of us.
Homosexuality is an illicit lust forbidden by God. He said to His
people Israel, "Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it
is abomination" (Leviticus 18:22). "If a man also lie with mankind, as
he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination:
they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon
them" (Leviticus 20:13). In these passages homosexuality is condemned
as a prime example of sin, a sexual perversion. The Christian can
neither alter God's viewpoint nor depart from it.
In the Bible sodomy is a synonym for homosexuality. God spoke plainly
on the matter when He said, "There shall be no whore of the daughters
of Israel, nor a sodomite of the sons of Israel" (Deuteronomy 23:17).
The whore and the sodomite are in the same category. A sodomite was
not an inhabitant of Sodom nor a descendant of an inhabitant of Sodom,
but a man who had given himself to homosexuality, the perverted and
unnatural vice for which Sodom was known. Let us look at the passages
in question:
But before they lay down, the men of the city, even the men of Sodom,
compassed the house around, both old and young, all the people from
every quarter:
And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the men which
came in to thee this night? Bring them out unto us, that we may know
them.
And Lot went out at the door unto them, and shut the door after him,
And said, I pray you, brethren, do not so wickedly.
Behold now, I have two daughters which have not known man; let me, I
pray you, bring them out unto you, and do ye to them as is good in
your eyes: only unto these men do nothing; for therefore came they
under the shadow of my roof. (Genesis 19:4-8)
The Hebrew word for "know" in verse 5 is yada`, a sexual term. It is
used frequently to denote sexual intercourse (Genesis 4:1, 17, 25;
Matthew 1:24, 25). The message in the context of Genesis 19 is clear.
Lot pled with the men to "do not so wickedly." Homosexuality is
wickedness and must be recognized as such else there is no hope for
the homosexual who is asking for help to be extricated from his
perverted way of life.

Who are the victims?
Pleading by the authority of an old book does not qualify as sound
reasoning.
If Homosexuals do harm, they should be stopped in doing so.
If they do no harm, we should let them be.

What can such an old book teach. brain surgery maybe
Today we have laws that run to thousands of set rules
that makes biblical teaching look like the work of lunatics
That maybe true, but 50 of all married people committed adultery and

While there is hope for adulteress, the general rule is that if he

Again homosexuality is not mentioned in the Bible. So God didn't say
Homosexuality is an illicit lust.

Since Jews were being killed throughout history, it would seem
reasonable that
it was a waste of sperm to have men lie with other men when women of
Israel needed to be
producing children for those Jews of Israel killed or about to be
killed.

And why would God or Christ want to kill anyone. I thought it was all
about saving
people whether they were evil or good.

Well, pastors need a congregation to pay for his salary and you only get
a congregation if they
produce offspring. So it was not in the Pastor's interest or the
church's interest to have
men and women not producing offspring.

Well, homosexuality is not a sex act in and of itself. It is a state of

in the absence of sex. One can certainly be a homosexual and never

So is lot offering his daughters to these unknown men so they can have
sex with them? Surely that is a sin! And rightly so he says do
nothing
with the men whom he protects under his roof.

Wait a minute. Homosexuality isn't mentioned in the Bible. So there is
no
reference to homosexuality being wicked.
God and Christ have always been available to any heterosexual or
homosexual to help them.
Any most homosexuals had their way, they would ask the church, the
pastor, the priest, and God,
if they would just stop breaching death and destruction for homosexuals
and offer a little
peace, home and support without judging them as wicked or evil. Just
love homosexuals as he loves
all other people.

The reason most Americans say they are Christian is the same reason most
people say they belong to a particular religion It is because their parents
said they follow that particular religion.
Very few have actually looked at other religions to find out which they
consider to be the 'true' faith.
IE they were brain washed at an early age, and have never escaped from that
brain washing.
Some may move from one section of their religion to another, but very few
actually move from religion to religion
There again you have a great majority who say they belong to some religion
or another, but never go to that faiths house of worship, nor follow its
dogma.
You only have to see how many houses of worship are full to see that.

But that means nothing, and again you've presented the fallacy of
appealing to numbers.
It might be noted that the majority of the world's population is not

Nobody wants cross-posting of irrelevant material (even though it's
easily ignored). But posting something "pertaining to homosexuality"
-- which is the group's stated purpose for existence -- wouldn't be
considered irrelevant.
Seems to me that the powers that be in that group only want what they
decide they want at any given time.
They will have to get over that if they are to have a group in this
public forum. Perhaps they can make their group private. They aren't
going to change Usenet.

Feel free to CITE that.
Until you CITE that its nothing more than your worthless personal opinion.
It means a lot.
Most people live consistent coherent lives. They think, act, react, plan,
and vote all according to their basic personality WHICH IN THIS CASE means
86% of Americans have a basic personality that is Judeo-Christian God-based.
It means nothing in your argument. In the "argument" you're trying to
present, it simply does not matter how many people believe in your
god. It proves nothing beyond what it actually states: that X number
of people claim to believe in "God". (Each individual, of course, has
a different idea of what this god IS, even within denominations.)
> Most people live consistent coherent lives.
Most people live "consistent coherent lives" whether they believe in
the Judeo-Christian god or not. The majority of the world's
population is not Jewish-Christian.
> They think, act, react, plan,
> and vote all according to their basic personality WHICH IN THIS CASE means

Nobody is born without a Judeo-Christian-Islamic god-based
"personality". They learned that. From other people. PEOPLE!
Religion is taught, and learned.
That said, it still doesn't work as a premise for your original
argument.
Religion is taught and learned.
If one grows up in a Muslim country, one will likely be Muslim.
Almost nobody in America is brought up Shinto, while that is not the
case in Japan.
> Until you CITE that its nothing more than your worthless personal opinion.
Your inability to put pieces together to form a cohesive whole amuses
us.
Except your documented fact as a response to the question is an
appeal.

"Most kids do."
That an appeal. Just because you were called on it, and don't like the
fact you were called on it, doesn't make it any less of one.

HOW they acquired their beliefs is irrelevant.
They have those beliefs. They generally live according to those beliefs.
In America 86% have Judeo-Christian beliefs. In America 86% live their
lives according to those Judeo-Christian beliefs.

That percentage STATE that they have Judeo-Christian beliefs.
We can assume that most of those do, while some only say that they
do. LOTS of people in prison claim to have Judeo-Christian beliefs,
for example. And not just those who "found" God while incarcerated.
But then we come to that tricky place where we have to define "Judeo-
Christian beliefs". And that's where we're going to see such
diversity that the label "Judeo-Christian beliefs" becomes
meaningless.
> In America 86% live their

Not even close. Even if we use just the most obvious and universal of
the "Judeo-Christian beliefs" -- let's say, the Ten Commandments --
we're going to get to nowhere near 86%.

Yes, I do. I have very many friends and family who are christian, and
while I love them all, when it comes to their religion, very few of

Ah, ye of major assumptions. I'm not an atheist. I'm just not

it contradicts itself so often it's a joke.
Something they've never been able to answer is this:
"What did Jesus have to say on the subject of homosexuality?"
See, if they believe Jesus is God become man, then it would behoove
Jesus to speak on the subject, especially if it is so important. Right?
So, what did Jesus have to say on the subject?
Anyone?
Heheheheh. Bet the answer is "nothing".

That's easy to answer partially - nothing recorded in the Bible or
imagined by the people who wrote it.
Of course (assuming he existed, which some atheists doubt*), he could
have said something such as, "There's nothing wrong with it," but
we'll never know, as his followers did not go around making cell phone
videos.
* Atheists who believe Jesus was a real person figure he was just
another street person, and you'll find some in any large city who
think they are deities of some sort - it's just that 2000 years ago
we called them prophets whereas today we call them schizophrenics. :-)
No, it's still going over your head. The point, as I think any adult
would have gotten by now, is that just throwing out a statistic is as
worthy as making one up. Interesting that you supplied no cite, yet
wanted one from me.

Of course I provided a cite. Scroll back in the thread.

If my memory serves me correctly I think that the statement was made that
86% of Americans are Christian?
Where it may well be true that if asked to fill in a form saying what
religion you are, 86% could put down Christian, but in fact a more correct
number would be of how many of those went to church say once a
month....................
If things are anything like Australia where I live, churches have been
closing because of poor attendances.
Now that is a fact!

I believe that in Europe there is a similar situation.
Still not quite registering, huh?

It's not in this post, I'll assume it's in one of the other 63 posts
that I'm not going to re-read.

Doh! Now you've done it, Rod. That kind of statement is exactly what
got me and the guy playing games with patriotism arguing in the first
place!

Gallup Poll. May 10-13, 2007. "For each of the following items I am going to
read you, please tell me whether it is something you believe in, something
you're not sure about, or something you don't believe in. . . ."
Believe In God: 86%
Don't Believe In God: 6%
Not Sure: 8%

So, in your ant-sized mind you think people lose their religious affiliation
if they don't go to worship once a month?
> If things are anything like Australia where I live...
One of the few certainties in life is that you can ALWAYS count on a fag
from Australia popping up to make a complete humiliating fool of himself in
public!
It's reverse McCarthyism. :)
Opps sorry :-)
I should know better than to quote the truth to religious
fanatics............

It is always an indication that someone's pet theory's are threatened when
the start calling names. You are a classic example
If church attendances are falling it is a good indication that people are no
longer interested in religion.

Stick and stones etc
A question like "Do you believe in God" is an old favourite question popped
by various door to door religious fanatics. Most people say yes without even
thinking about it and then the fanatics have a few other questions of a
similar nature to ask that conditions the person into saying yes, then they
pop their real question, which was the idea right from the word go, by
saying no to the first question it throws most of these brain washed
fanatics off course.
The simple facts of life are that here church attendances have been falling,
and some churches have closed.
In places like Catholic Spain the people have supported Gay Marriage,
despite the Pope screaming from the Vatican against it.
There are other catholic countries that have supported Gay Unions.
Woman take the pill despite the Catholic Church saying it is wrong.
In many of the so called Christian countries, US and Australia amongst them,
generally speaking abortion is legal despite various churches being against
it.
Almost all of the civilized western world now does not have laws
specifically against Gay men and women, despite many churches objecting.
IE the churches have lost much power.
IMHO the church is a place to worship, but the churches should stay out of
politics.
BTW I installed a door station on my front door, it rings the phones
thoughout the house when it is pressed, and you simply pick up a phone and
ask who is there. It is great to get rid of the door to door brain washed
religious fanatics.

But the poster merely pointed out one of your significant shortcoming.
That's called "telling the truth", and it's far from name calling.
Except... I have no such theory....

Or, doing something on Sunday, or Wednesday, or whenever.
It means NOTHING.

And you know that how?

Yet you FAILED to CITE an example.

Catholic women? How many? You FAILED to CITE this alleged fact.

You're confusing individual personal belief with organized religion.

If they ever had the power you claim they had.

You might be right but its not gonna happen.
Surely it means something. Lower attendance certainly indicates a
loosening of the grasp of the church on its congregants.

Have a look here: http://www.religioustolerance.org/rel_rate.htm
Be sure to read the part where it says that some people who claim to
go to church are LIARS.
LOL!

Behind the times, you are, and lazy, lazy, lazy.

Lazy, lazy, lazy. Pull your head OUT of your ass.
"By 1970, two-thirds of all Catholic women were using methods
disapproved by their Church; this figure reached three-quarters for
women under age 30."
http://www.sciencemag.org/cgi/content/abstract/179/4068/41
That should give you enough reading for awhile. Please don't have
seizures while perusing these citations that you were too lazy to look
up yourself. Ya look like a fool, ya know, when you don't even seem
to know the basics of what you argue.
