With 80% reporting, Pro-Gay-Marriage Measure Trails in Maine 52.4 to 47.6

Maine voters were tilting against a law allowing same-sex
couples to marry, as officials counted ballots late into the
night in a closely-fought referendum that saw unexpectedly high
turnout.
With 80% of precincts reporting, 52.4% of Maine voters were in
favor of repealing a law that authorizes same-sex marriage,
versus 47.6% who would allow the law to take effect.
Rolling back the law would be a setback for gay-rights advocates
and make Maine the third state in which residents reversed their
government's decision to permit gay marriages, after California
and Hawaii.
Same-sex marriage has yet to win a popular vote in any state,
despite a recent string of wins in the New England region. The
other states that grant marriage licenses to same-sex couples --
Massachusetts, Connecticut, Iowa, and Vermont -- have done so
via legislative vote or judicial ruling, and New Hampshire will
grant such marriages starting in January after a vote by its
legislature. The federal government and most other states don't
recognize same-sex marriages.
Maine currently grants domestic-partnership status to same-sex
couples, along with about seven other states. The state's
legislature voted in May to allow gays to marry each other, but
an opposition petition campaign led the measure's implementation
to be delayed and submitted to a popular referendum Tuesday.
In Washington state, voters appeared poised to approve the
expansion of rights granted to gay couples under the state's
domestic-partnership registry.
Earlier this year, the state passed a law to expand domestic
partnerships to have the same rights as marriages under state
law. Early returns showed 51% approving of the expanded status,
compared with 49% who voted to reduce the rights of same-sex
domestic partners.
Also Tuesday, Mainers approved a measure to broaden the state's
medical-marijuana law to allow nonprofit organizations to
dispense marijuana to the sick.
Voters in Maine and Washington also appeared to reject measures
to cap state spending at current levels, adjusted for inflation
and population growth. A similar measure failed in Maine in 2006.
It is time to fire some queer activist politicians and recall
some judges.

This is in spite of the fact that that the pro gay forces outspent the
traditional marriage supporters $4 million to $2.6 million. Expect
the gays to now start looking for bogeymen, with many lawsuits filed
(some before the end of today) seeking a court to overturn the will of
the people. Also, expect them to blame out of state money, with
vitriol being poured out on the Catholic Church of Maine for having
the audacity to speak in favor of traditional marriage. Expect random
acts of vandalism and public tantrums.

Just goes to show how hard it is to get a state that is INFESTED

Harm isn't the issue here, and the queers know it. A marriage
between a 40 year old father and his consenting 20 year old
daughter would be harmless, given this context you're trying
to use, but it could never be morally acceptable and made legal.

their bigotry on November 3rd, that was a reminder of the fact that
dozens of other U.S states are every bit as bigoted. And the world's

most of the USA!!
This serves as a reminder to the world that the USA is still a
repressive and BLIGHTED country! And that we are little better
than we were when our South was infested with the bigotry of

UNTIL that is corrected, the world should regard the USA

to do with us as possible!
To the rest of the world: BOYCOTT us! If you have troops
in Afghanistan or Iraq, bring them home! Break off all trade with

currency HERE. There are OTHER interesting places in the world

Early this month a group of young doctors declared a war against abortion,
which is illegal but rampant here.
Consisting of some 600 obstetricians in their 30s and 40s, the group
tentatively named "Gynob" resolved not to comply with any abortion request
that is not based on medical validity.
"Despite the huge gap between law and reality, our society has left the
issue of illegal abortions long unsettled. Most abortions in Korea occur
because of social and economic reasons. And all of them are illegal," they
said in a statement issued on Nov. 1.
After ending their anti-abortion campaign within the year, the group plans
to seek criminal proceedings from Jan. 1. Doctors here say an age-old
Pandora's Box of abortion has just opened up.
Historically, Korean women have never claimed rights over their bodies, Lee
said. During the 1960-70s, the government's birth control policy forced them
to get abortions. But now they are encouraged to bear more babies due to the
nation's falling birthrate.
"If some doctors quit performing abortions, others would do more. That's why
we are considering criminal charges against illegal abortions," she said.
"Yes, some of us are criminals too. If necessary, we are ready to be
investigated first. We think this might be the last chance to make a
change."
