Have you ever considered why we give out foreign aid to the developing
world?
Foreign aid is a form of tax.
It usually turns back in the pockets of the Oligarchy officials.
Some of it is split with corrupt dictators and governments
to buy their silence.
So they can afford to buy plane tickets to come here?
R
Because if you raise living standards elsewhere you reduce birth rates and
the number of angry young unemployed men with bombs, while expanding markets
for UK goods and services.
Because where aid doesn't work, patronage is still useful for buying foreign
leaders, diplomats, and businesspeople.
Because we're nice people, and a lot of aid works surprisingly well.

I have a better idea - use the money to keep a good defensive force so
that when they target us, we bomb the fuck out of them. Those countries
who are friendly towards us can sell us their rice, bananas and other
manufactured goods at a fair price that is used to develop their
countries at a sensible rate.
Nothing wrong with that in general.
But who should we have bombed for the July 2005 tube bombings? Or Ken
Bigley's beheading?

There's a space in the Atlantic Ocean where a brave pilot could drop the
appropriate payload in these circumstances - the bodies of the murdering
scum.
