The Loyal Nine.

It is no mistake to state that the Loyal Nine where the originators of the
American Revolution. They where the nucleus that the organization known to
history as the Son's of Liberty, aggregated about in the 1760's. They where
the leadership and organizational backbone of the Boston Tea Party, and in
the form of the Sons of Liberty went so far as to burn effigies of the Tax
Collector, sack his office, as well lead a mod to his house; the mob latter
sacked the Governors mansion. Both pre-revolutionary acts that ensured that
public opinion would be polarized into Loyalists(oddly the traitors from the
American view.)and the Rebels(Our Founding Fathers.), a very important step
in any revolutionary campaign.

The Loyal Nine was made up of the following men, who though virtually
forgotten by history are the true fathers of American Liberty:

John Avery-Merchant; John Smith-Brazier; Benjamin Edes-Printer; Stephen
Cleverly-Brazier; Thomas Chase-Distiller; Joseph Field-Ships Captain; Henry
Bass-Merchant; and George Trott-Jeweler.

These normal, average, and middle-class, men of modest means, took the
actions that resulted in a world supper power--Great Britain--losing British
North America (to what Lord Cornwallis often referred to as a 'rabble'.) And
about 10 years Later a new Nation being born out of the combination of
British, and to some extent German and French Determination, know how, self
reliance and the North American continent, that Nation being the United
States of America: Free, Proud, and Just.

It was a nearly unknown sort of Nation. One in which there was not only no
King, but in which the People where the final Authority. It was the rebirth
of Liberty long lost of old to the encroachments of the Aristocracy and the
Divine Rights of Kings. IT was a unique land in that it--and it alone--of
all Nations on the Earth Proclaimed the Man was endowed with Rights that
where not privileges that government bestowed upon Citizens; that man
antedated the State and thus was paramount over the state. The functionaries
of the State where careful and thoughtful of the People, and treaded lightly
on their Rights. The People where vigilant of their Rights and thus where
free.

Then the People became afraid, and mistrusted themselves, a seditious poison
was introduced in many forms: Socialism, Communism, Rights Activists, and
the assortment of mindless anarchists. We gave up freedom in the name of
fairness;Liberty in the name of equality; choice in the name of
regimentation; and all in the name of security. We have lost our liberties
by choice only to receive the worst that security has to offer. We succumbed
to fears of economy, moral doubt, and out right anarchy in the form of inner
city riots; and in succumbing we gave away what little of the Republic and
the Freedoms on which it stood that we had left. We have taken the pill of
the tyrant and sleep the sleep of mindless chattel slaves, and serfs.

I say that it is time to remember what we had, and what we can have again.
It is time to wake from the sleepful haze that is security, to the wakeful
vigilance that is Freedom. And in that cause I say, remember the Loyal Nine.
Remember their acts and if possible their names. Remember all Patriots and
lovers of Freedom. Remember these men and their brave actions in the name of
Freedom, and liberty. Remember these men this December 16th the 224th
anniversary of the Boston Tea Party. Remember what they did, and recall what
we have lost that they fought so valiantly for, this normal citizens that
had had enough. Remember them and celebrate their passing, for without their
acts you, nor I, would have the little that we still have. Without men of
the caliber of these fighting tyranny and injustice we would never have even
had a chance to be free, and thus no Freedom to go back to.

Sweet Jay-sus (as my sainted Irish grandmother would say), at least learn to
spell the words "were" (above) and "super" (below).
