I haven't watched 60 minutes since the old hit piece "The Guns Of
Autumn". As for Jordan, why is he somehow entitled to this repsected
power broker status? Is it perhaps because he's black and a liberal?
That's usually good enough for ultra-lib mainstream media. I would
suggest to the 60 minutes people that perhaps they show the clip of
Vernon Jordan's acting performances. I'm not talking about that bit part
in the John Gresham movie. I'm talking about his bit part in "Clinsky &
Hutch" where he played that black pimp Huggy Bear. Missed in all the
coverage of the things he did for Lewinsky is this: What was Jordan's
payoff for helping Clinton?

Here is the deal: Vernon is the one that they REALLY WANT.. why??

Vernon knows where the bodies are buried. He got beaucoup money for
Webster ( better known as Hush Money. ) He WAS IN The Civil Rights
movement for long time. He is mr fixer in Wash. He is better connected
than Bill ever was. IF he goes down...lots of folks are going to
be nervous as hell.

So the "Starr is after Jordan because he's black!" chorus should kick in
any time now. Clearly they want Jordan because of the Hubbell
connection. Don't forget Jordan put together the Clinton team in the
fist administration. The "transitional team" they called it. He's still
working to put people into certain "positions" for Clinton (pardon the
pun). Like I said before. Vernon "Huggy Bear" Jordan. What it is! What
it is! My white hillbilly brutha........What can I do to you.....uh, I
mean FOR you, Massa President?

Look, 60 Minutes is a whitewash...and always has been....so what else is
new.....

See if they look into the "urban League", Jordan's old stomping ground,
to ask if it was a real civil rights organization, or an "Uncle Tom"
group funded by bigwigs....

See if they wonder why Jordan is on so many corporate boards. Can't be
that he was busy supporting ghetto children there, huh?

O.K. now we are getting somewhere.

We all know CBS is the damage control central for Clinton. Note: 1992
face saving and election saving interviews.

When was the Jordan interview taped? Today is the 15 of February.
This important because establishing time frame of damage control can
tell us much.
For example: Was this interview done right after the affair news broke
or is it a last ditch effort from a few days ago?

Second, it really does not matter when CBS claims the interview was
done, because the content will speak for itself. It will be dated. There
is no way to get around that. We can look out of the windows for
example(within the interview) and see the weather and time. Weather
reports are recorded and can be confirmed.

Does anyone out there have any concrete info as to when the actual
interview took place?

When the the piece was put together? (edited)

When it was decided it should be aired?

Any piece of the puzzle will help.

Yes, can you imagine the "tough" questions that will be posed to a successful
African-American by a liberal newsman? Give me a break - they wouldn't
have the balls to ask a black man a question they know he will lie about.

"The Guns of Autumn"? Gee, that was broadcast back in the 70's, and
it was a separate special, not on 60 minutes. You're probably
confused because Dan Rather was the host. Never repeated, due to
whining by hunters who didn't exposure of their less than noble
brethren on national TV.

So, you'll only watch a program that caters to your prejudices. Why
am I not surprised?

You wont hear that at all. No reason to do so... and Vern is one
powerful dude...dude. They want him - and they will go to the wall
to do it. Mike Wallace should pretend to be tough - but in the
end it will be like the Vince Ruddy interview in reverse.

Vernon Jordan's corporate power... and the power of the advertising dollars may
have editorial clout.

Banker's Trust may be interesting in terms of current bank mergers and the
Department of Justice.

Power , and abuse of power is the heart of this story.

60 minutes hard at work for Vernon Jordan & the Clintons. Right!
They will make everything sound real nice & chummy. Vernon
Jordan just likes to help "friends". Yeah, sure! Nothing
like helping your good buddies out of a jam especially when
it involves a court case!

Did Vernon Jordan help out other Clinton friends besides Webb Hubbell
and Monica Lewinsky? How about Vince Foster and Ron Brown or Dan
Lasater?

Uh,.... perhaps you're forgetting the follow-up hit piece "Echoes Of The
Guns Of Autumn". It was just as bad. You must have been stoned at the
time, eh?

It was surprisingly PUFF. Wallace asked some good questions,
especially when he examined Jordan's own words and asked "why
would Vernon Jordan meet with her annd ask her about a sexual
relationdship with the President in the first place?" and "Why
would he find her a lawyer and a job?" but never followed up.

That's gives them cover. The media has been saying all
along that they have "covered" Clinton & all allegations,
but that's all they do. They just ask the questions & then
when he & his surrogates deny them, the media then backs off
& says ok they denied them so everything is fine.

No Republican could get away with that. But I don't think
Vernon Jordan is one that they will dare to pursue. It
will look "racist & bigioted". Clinton always lucks out
doesn't he? Having the right friends for protection.

There was a followup? Jeez, I missed that. Must have been at a

I saw the article. It was rather subtle, but almost too sly in its
insinuation that a lawyer who never goes to court and never writes briefs
can't be up to any good earning a million dollars per year in fees.

The funniest part was when another friend of Jordan said he asked him what he
and Clinton talked about all those times they played golf from the same cart,
and Jordan said, "Why, we talk about pussy".

I thought it remarkable that Sally Quinn said that Democrats in Washington
weren't supporting Clinton as much as they weren't betting against Vernon
Jordan, because of his status in D.C.
