The other shoe will drop this winter. Current estimates are
a 50% increase over last winter in natural gas and heating
oil prices.
I will be interested in seeing how Al Gore spins this one.
Fuel oil and gasoline are by products of each other. When
crude oil is refined, roughly equal amounts of fuel oil
and gasoline are produced. That's the reason gas is cheap
during war time. Planes, ships, and tanks run on fuel oil,
for each gallon produced, about a gallon of gas is produced.
For each gallon of gas produced for all those Suburbans and
Expeditions, a gallon of fuel oil is produced. That should
mean a surplus of fuel oil for home heating and electricity
generation.
