As I have pointed out many times, back in 1969 I single-handedly
started gay lib in Western Canada, with the strong belief it was
utterly futile since everyone, including the gays were opposed. I knew
of no other gays in Canada who were out publicly, though years later I
discovered there were some. I just could not stand being silent
listening to so many lies about gays being passed around daily. I also
found out that I was almost kicked out of university for my book A
Guide For the Naive Homosexual. To my utter astonishment, within a
few years we had the first gay rights legislation and the public
turned around 180 degrees in tolerance. Now Canada is about to enact
gay marriage.
I have no way of measuring just how much of all that as my doing. I
like to imagine I was a sort of Forrest Gump, noticing the people at
the Watergate with flashlights, being the nail on the horseshoe.
That experience is the primary thing that drives me to keep plugging
against the Bush crime family no matter how futile things look.
Gandhi is my other "keep plugging" inspiration. I have collected all

You got in backwards. I helped people accept themselves and live
openly and form monogamous couples.
All the extreme secrecy prior to 1969 would have made it impossible to
trace AIDS infections. All that hiding causes anonymous sex which
causes promiscuity.
HIV is a disease. It should be treated like any other infectious

It is a fraud perpetuated as an excuse to discriminate against gays.
It read four books on the subject given me by an evangelist minister
Terry Winters. What they do is get the guy to marry a woman then
white knuckle avoiding sex with men. If he cuts his "backsliding"
down he is declared "cured".
But there is ZERO change to his sexual orientation. All they can go
is guilt trip the guy into reducing his gay sex. More than ever he
thinks about sex with guys.
It creates a nightmare both for the guy and for the poor woman roped
into this marriage. She feels demeaned since he clearly find men more
appealing than her.
It is unnatural and can't last. It like convincing a guy that only sex
with pigs is virtuous, and seeing how long he can go with only that.
You are much better off to help the guy accept himself and find a
stable relationship with some one he CAN love without gritting his
teeth. A gay relationship hurts no one and is nourishing for the two
involved. It is crazy the way people find gay monogamous relationships
more threatening than murder, child torture or child rape.
There are some bisexuals for whom this is not quite so nightmarish.
They pretty well have to decide one way or the other if they prefer
monogamy. But again there is no change is sexual orientation.

Why not?
It is just a tiny step away from his crimes I believe you do
acknowledge:
1. sexual abuse of prisoners
2. child prisoners
3. anal rape of male teen prisoners
But consider who is making the accusation, one of the top three
journalists in America, a Pulitzer prize winner. Seymour Hersh is up
there with Bernstein and Woodward. He is the guy who broke the Mai Lai
massacre story much as no one wanted to believe it. He broke the Abu
Ghraib story no matter how crazy it sounded. It is the New Yorker, not
some tabloid.
You have no reason at all to doubt him. The only reason you do is
because you would strongly like it if it were NOT true. That's it. You
have no other reason. Everything about Bush points to it being true.
