Now, we've become a hellhole of misogyny and machismo.

MP Diane Abbott will claim on Thursday.
The shadow public health minister will say in her speech that
unemployment and the economic downturn risks creating a generation of

She will also say men are failing to discuss the problems they face.

These days, men's equality is held back by their own sex as opposed to
the opposite, ditto women's.
Most homophobic abuse is levied at men in touch with their feminity as
opposed to actually gay. Similarly the insults such as "slut" and "slag"
tend to come from other women.
Male adult interest magazines have gone down hill, again a similar story
with the "take a shit" type women's mags. Would be nice if they'd print
some attractive women who actually did something other than get their
kit off, and chat magazines printed some stories about the love lives of
blokes who weren't all psychopathic sex cases. Getting ahead in media
these days seems to be about just copying crap, doesn't seem to be any
money in the slightest bit of originality.
I'm not sure things were much better in real life in the 1990s, in some
cases worse though. A different crowd seem to have infiltrated popular
culture though, music, magazines, TV and the like who seem to be rather
shallow and vain. I'd say there's less ethnic segregation these days for
example, but the media portrays more.
Thank fuck for Viz, Private Eye and suchlike.

as if every right thinking fellow didn't thump his wife on returning
from work and pub...wimmin knew their place...
now socialism garnishes half of all men's wages and gives it to wimmin
direct...
before wimmin had to make the tea...and a few other onerous tasks
in order to get paid...now wimmin are not oppressed like that
any more...
some foolish men wrongfully object...the real answer is to garnish
the rest of their wages and give that to diane as well....
i blame maggie thatcher for not doing it while she had the chance...

gestures to look for, it becomes clear that it's very widespread. I don't
think she's actually saying life is like that, but the film does have a
prominent quote which she lifted from it - 'The first rule of Fight Club
is... You don't talk about Fight Club'. I guess she used that particular
reference so that she could show that she was 'in touch with the common man
(or person, if you prefer)', and all that. But not a bad film, really.

I retain an abiding contempt for the man who hit me.
As for the perverts and assorted inadequates who hit me with slippers,
blackboard erasers and the like, they remain in my memory as

when I said to Steve, "There's Mr Rogerson! Let's say goodbye to him!" and
Rogerson seemed to run away from us (or walk fast) - he only stopped when he
found another teacher- the very one whose tyre I punctured, lol!
