6 days a week total: 48 hours
Organisational Relationship:
Reports to: Project Manager
Responsible for: All aspects of Building Services Mechanical
installations
Job Summary:
Responsible for supervision of shop and site Engineers and Foremen for
all aspects of installation of Building Services Mechanical systems on
a variety of building projects, including a hospital, accomodation
blocks, conference centre and school.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Review all mechanical drawings and specifications for fabrication and
instalation programmes.
Liaison with the Resident M&E Engineer for all drawing rquirements.
Preparing all material requisitions for procurement.
Liaison with Q.C. Engineers to ensure that the works comply with
drawings and specifications.
Maintain records of site progress against programme and manpower
estimates to ensure construction targets are met.
Preparation of O&M manuals prior to hand-over of buildings.
Attending to the interface between the main contractor and his
subcontractors for final commissioning of HVAC systems.
Education/Licensure:
Minimum of City & Guilds qualification, HNC or equivalent from an
accredited institution of higher education, or a formal
apprenticeship.
B.Sc. In Mechanical Engineering is preffered.
Proffessional Experience (essential):
A minimum of 15 years progressive post-qualification/apprenticeship
experience in construction projects.
A minimum of 10 years experience in a supervisory position.
Specialised Knowledge (desirable):
Knowledge of American and British construction standards.
Experience in the following areas is also advantageous:
Healthcare Facilities
Residential
Office Buildings
Recreation Centres
Working knowledge of the following aspects is desirable:
Medical Gas systems.
HVAC installations.
Steam and hot-water boiler installations.
Reverse Osmosis water purification plants.
Fire pumps and alarm systems.
Pneumatic tube systems.
