Opis stanowiska:
DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER
This role involves working with teams in all areas of the business
especially the handset software group and those working in protocols.
The group is focussed on developing next generation User Interface
experiences for mobile devices. These devices will be available in the
consumer electronics market in the future.
There are vacancies in Mobile Applications group for enthusiastic C/C++
embedded software engineers. The candidate has the opportunity to be
creative and evolve the user experience in mobile devices in the coming
years. The candidate should have a proactive nature and a desire to
develop high quality and professional software. There is also a
potential for business travel to Asia, North America and Europe.
We are very interested in meeting with candidates who have an interest
in mobile phones, next generation graphics and the evolution of
Internet technology in mobile devices. The successful candidate will be
joining a creative, experienced team in the open and supportive
environment, within which new ideas and skills are welcomed and shared.

1) QUALIFICATIONS
Essential
* Good University degree in computing science, electronics,
engineering, physics or a related subject in the physical sciences.
Desirable
* Knowledge of communications - e.g. final year project and/or optional
courses.

2) GENERAL WORK EXPERIENCE
Essential
* 2+ years relevant experience in embedded C and C++.
* Experience of developing and supporting development tools.
* Software life cycle: requirements definition, design, implementation,
integration and testing.
* Software development projects involving >2 people.
Desirable
* Experience in communication systems.
* Experience in handset wireless or cellular communications.
* Responsibility for embedded software system design.
* Knowledge of IDL.
* Knowledge of Windows development, (e.g. DLLs, virtual memory).

3) SKILLS
Essential
* Understanding or experience of real-time embedded software
engineering.
* Debugging of embedded software.
* Use of version control.
* Technical writing - able to express ideas clearly and concisely in
words and diagrams.
* C/C++ Integrated Development Environment, (e.g. Borland Builder, MS
VC++).
* Presentation/Demonstration to small groups.
Desirable
* Basic knowledge of digital hardware.
* Customer facing skills. Working with, presenting to and partnering
with customers.
* Experience of hardware debugging tools such as emulators, logic
analysers, etc.
