"the seascape is a prominent theme for contemporary photography, from such
masters as jim pfahl to hiroshi sugimoto, their ability to capture emotion
ranging from quiet solitude to raging anger have heavily influenced my view
of the ocean as a landscape to be photographed."
"for myself, the experience of being on the shore; the salty sea air and the
wind whistling past is as important, as the camera, the film, and the
printing of the photograph."
"the series i'm working on now, has evolved over the past year or more, from
straight representation of the jersey shore and parts of the asbury park
boardwalk, to more abstract views of the ocean."

p.s. Catherine Sienko's section has now been moved into the archives for
those of you who still want the chance to view her work.

Secondly, there are new images in the Updates and the Urban sections. In
Updates are some slightly arty shots of the Thames estuary mudflats at low
tide. In the Urban section are some digitally manipulated images of the
Lloyds building in the City of London. I'd be interested to hear whether you
think the level of digital manipulation on these images is legitimate
photographic practice. I'm not easily offended so you can be as honest as
you like - it's an interesting issue and one worthy of debate.
Lastly, Dimitri Chrysanthopoulos is still the guest photographer on the site
- do have a look at his superb black and white beach shots.
All the best,
Dave
