I gave up on giving him feedback some time ago...

I usually ignore the guy
but like a fool I had to look one more time...
It's just terrible and I figured he's got to be told the truth.

I'll speak for myself, thank you.

I'm sure he's grateful.

Why is that? ....the "terrible" part? I'd rather see a bird, I might
not otherwise see, in a cage than never see that bird at all. Maybe
the bird was rescued. I almost caged a young owl that slammed into my
window and knocked itself senseless. What? Let it freeze to death on
my deck or rescue and put in warm cage till it recovered.
Fortunately, it recovered its senses in about 15 mins and flew off
the 3rd time I approached it. If it had not, I would have caged it
and photo'd the heck out of it before freeing it after recovery.

What you did was an admirable thing.
What the OP does is horrible.
Big difference.
Norms and standards that have evolved since time immemorial are difficult to
duck, and sentiments towards something are indeed different things.
I've been using Google maps and streetview to plan a photoshoot this
afternoon. I'm cringing with horror at what might unfold.
I can assure you, if I take photos with little merit or run over a dog in my
haste to get that once in a lifetime shot nobody will ever know.

Of course, someone would get a shot of you running over the dog
you know!
Well, yes. That /could/ happen. After all, irony is the fifth fundamental
force.
I'm cacking myself. The G9 feels like Houston Control, and I've never shot
anything in the autumn. To keep it manageable I'm just planning on taking a
stroll and documenting that. Nothing hard or complicated. Might get a few
reccy and money shots. I can always reshoot when I've had more practice or
the light is different.
I need to pull my finger out on doing a blog. Oh, and that gave me another
idea. There's a general election coming up in the spring. I've been
wondering if I can attach myself to one of the candidates. This is a
historic general election and I live in the most marginal seat in the
country. After missing out on a once in a lifetime exhibition (Yeah, yeah. I
know) this could make up for that.

I always hate it when I miss a "once in a lifetime" shot...
but then realize there will always be another one.

I had one on my first shoot. It was there on a plate. *smack* I didn't take
it because I felt like a prick waving a camera around. It was a couple on a
classic bike. Shit, they even parked it right. All I had to do is walk up
like a slackjaw and hit the button.
I remember some guy years ago who got "that shot". It was portrait, and lit
and composed as well as anything on a book cover. I was there when he took
it, and everyone was as surprised as he was. I heard years later the guy in
the photo committed suicide. He was disabled and it got to him.
Bugger. Gonna have to finish some shit and haul ass. I'm not expecting much
but I'm walking past a 1000 years of history. From castle remains, to period
architecture, to modern classics. If I shut my eyes and click I've got to
get something out of that. Carlos Vandango has left the building!

I don't mull over it too long if I miss a shot.
In addition to being a photographer...I am also a poet...
so I just write a poem about it.
My fianc is an artist and can sometimes paint a good "missed" shot from
memory...but in general...a photo helps.
A few years back, we went to a night club in NY to see Woody Allen play
his saxophone.
I left my camera in the hotel because I did not want to look like a tourist.
Well...that was one shot I missed all right. No fooling...
I was the only person in there without a camera!
The next year when we went to NY I did bring my camera when we went to
see Les Paul.
Glad I got a few snapshots...he's now gone!

Some good thoughts and humour in there.
Today was a disaster and I froze my nuts off. But, I got some shots I can do
better next time and feel happier for doing it.

Well
I never made it to work today
nor did I do any shooting...
I just fooled around with Photoshop
and ended up installing the DNG converter on my fianc's
machine
It works well and at least I did one useful thing today
