North American bats (esp. in the north east) are at serious threat from
"white nose syndrome"[1]. They are a key species in the ecosystem. Nice
to keep as many alive as possible and get them back into the wild to
procreate.
[1] Recent press suggests that the white fungus causing this is a
European strain that North American bats aren't able to combat. (It
causes them to wake too early from hibernation when there is no food in
the cold months.
