Since I enjoy cooking more than eating, my ingredients
always grow to be more than the pot. Then, also, leftovers
become the main meal, faster also. I can get about five or six
meals out of a cooking. Of course I then quickly pressure
cook each meal along with some fruit to heat it and kill any
little bugs.

I love to "batch cook" and usually freeze it in meal-sized portions.
Is freezing fairly safe for short periods of time?
Also, it seems some recipes can't be successfully "downsized"
so they turn out better to just make the whole recipe....
maybe like love? :-)

I would say a month or two is fine IME. Also you can defrost in the fridge
overnight, saving energy both for the fridge, as the cold will cool the
fridge, and when heating, as it will not need to be defrosted. Haven't
worked out how many kilowatts this saves! Probably less than one.

Definitely.

Thanks, every bit helps.

The best part of cooking for me is trying new techniques
and making things from scratch that you would usually buy
at a store. I enjoy the "applied chemistry" aspect of it all. :-)
Have had some appalling failures...but I learned a lot and had fun!

Maybe I could rent a professional restaurant kitchen
and we could all get together and have a cooking party!
Everyone could cook a favorite dish....
with this group that would offer quite a variety. :-)

were carrots and honey if you could get that, young peas can be sweet
too. I turned my freezer off because I can get fresh food now, it
worked out quite expensive unless I was planning and buying cheap to
save.
