After I posted that I didn't even bother to waste the 3 seconds it
takes to google the authors of Fred's AGW denying articles -- they are
all either creationists or energy shills -- someone else posted:

"Neither does Fred."

Apparently Fred doesn't even care if his sources are creationists.

The idea that Rand's ideas / philosophy could ever be described as
"conservative" or in any way is linked to any conservative /
religionist political ideology is utterly bizarre, she would be
spinning in her grave fast enough to be hooked up to the national grid
reading her name being associated with conservative politics.

Rand saw man (the human individual) as the controller of politics and
not politics as the controller of man.

It's hardly necessary any longer.

The East Anglia emails do I much better job of it.

The only ones in denial at this point are the devout AGW faithful who
still don't realize that they've been taken in by the biggest
scientific hoax in history. No one knows at this point what will get
them to stop genuflecting.

Ayn Rand is a cartoon.

She represents the epitome of wishful, fantasy building. No world such
as she posits can possibly exist except in a small room of dreamers -
something like an opium den.

Get over it.

Babbitt (the original rebel) predates Atlas Shrugged and I suspect Ayn
Rand obtained some of her ideas from it. There are parts of Atlas
Shrugged I agree with such as the promotion of honesty and rationality
but Rand's anti-social attitude is not very honest or rational and her
rants against religion and socialism and for "egoism" and capitalism
don't make this extremely long book worth reading. Babbitt provides a
subtle illustration of disillusionment with conformity and materialism
that is just as applicable today as it was before the Depression. And
Lewis accepted a Nobel Prize in Literature while Rand created an
institute for assholes.

"If you really want to understand the conservative right read Ayn Rand,
not Sarah Palin."

which is wrong

If you really want to understand the Palin conservative right, watch
Glenn Beck, listen to Rush Limbaugh and read Ann Coulter.

Ayn Rand is now way beyond most, other than as a tee shirt graphic and a
person they are told they agree with.

Ayn Rand a rogue? Hardly. Sarah Palin? Being played, possibly being
harmed.

Maybe, but in that respect it is not much different from the influence
Marx exercised on the vast hordes of leftists who followed him. How
many read Das Kapital - and if they did, understood it?

It hardly mattered. They were profoundly influenced by it.

I compaired Ayn Rand with Sinclair Lewis because they both address
social unrest and I think Lewis does a better job. But Ayn Rand is
more simular to L. Ron Hubbard, they both wrote science fiction and
have institutions for social misfits. And I suspect Hubbard obtained
some of his ideas from Rand.
