We kill each other over money or silly disputes, or even for the
enjoyment of it.
We murder, rape, molest and kill our own children.
Yes, there are many positives, but the above negatives, and those
unmentioned, far outweigh any positives.
We're a mess.
We have so much potential for great things, yet, it's like we prefer
to act juvenile and immature.
Maybe that's because we ARE a juvenile and immature species?
But after 10,000 or more years, you'd think we'd get the picture by
now?
I beleive we are far worse than animals. Even parasites.
It's like we're a disease. I know we have potential to do great things
for ourselves, each other, and the planet but it's like the human race
would rather act like a spoiled child who's parents are out of the
house for the night.
Consider insanity as a defense. See earlier posts.
Also, to consider the personal virtual reality produced by our
brain as "reality" may have worked 10,000 years ago, today,
that act is insane. Thus your symptoms, among other things.
Also, human hubris is overwhelming. Anticipate catastrophes.
Thats exactly why I stated looking for answers in my early twenties. I
knew deep down, how much incredible quality existed amongst people
also.
Those facts started me wondering if there was some sort of a
graduation programme going on. That evolution was actually a spiritual
reality, where the sort you refer to were at the early stage, compared
with people like you who can stand back, look and question.
All as I can say, is that there are answers if you look with
commitment and confidence in yor own level of discernment. The 'we' you
refer to covers an incredible spectrum of consciousness.

thanks for you words.
In my late twenties I delved into Anarchism. I went to an Anarchist
book shop. Started reading literature. But soon realised Anarchism
isn't the answer either, and gave up on that. Though it was good to
learn about something so "tabboo".
I don't know about "spirituality". I'd like to thing there's something
greater than us, than this life, but I don't know.
I even feel sick at times for bringing a child into this world today,
knowing how worse it is, than when I grew up in the 70's.
This whole electing 1 person in the "united states" (where I live) to
lead BILLIONS is so asburd, and has rekindled all these feelings
("what's wrong with us").
I need a time machine, so I can live in that future planet where
everyone just eats fruit and swims but underground are those
"murlocks" or whatever. At least then I would be blissfully ignorant
to life.
*sigh* maybe i need psychodelics in my life or something LOL
So you're saying our brain is still programmed to act as if we were
still apes in the savannah? (more or less)
Worse than that. All the legacy animal biases, interpretations, and "feelings"
are all there in force. Then "on top" of that we have
fantasy models of what is and means to be reality that we consider
"reality". For instance : "look" at your computer, what "you"
envision is a brain produced fantasy vision that you call a "real"
computer. You are having insane delusions, you are insane.
Now consider that all do the same with all contexts, including
things, others, and self. All without any consideration that what we
envision is a brain artifact, not "reality".

Why We Are All Insane
Tuesday, August 26, 2008
By Robin Nixon
Natural selection wants us to be crazy — at least a little bit. While true
debilitating insanity is not nature's intention, many mental health issues may
be byproducts of the over-functional human brain, some researchers claim.
As humans improved their gathering, hunting and cooking techniques, population
size increased and resources became more limited (in part because we hunted or
ate some species to extinction). As a result, not everyone could get enough to
eat. Cooperative relationships were critical to ensuring access to food, whether
through farming or more strategic hunting, and those with blunt social skills
were unlikely to survive, explained David C. Geary, author of "The Origin of
Mind" (APA, 2004), and a researcher at the University of Missouri.
And thus, a diversity of new mental abilities, and disabilities, unfurled.
The nature of joy
It might seem as though modern man should have evolved to be happy and
harmonious. But nature cares about genes, not joy, Geary said.
Mental illnesses hinder one in every four adults in America every year,
according to the National Institute of Mental Health. And this doesn’t count
those of us with more moderate mood swings.
To explain our susceptibility to poor mental health, Randolph Nesse in "The
Handbook of Evolutionary Psychology" (Wiley, 2005) compares the human brain with
race horses: Just as horse breeding has selected for long thin legs that
increase speed but are prone to fracture, cognitive advances also increase
fitness — to a point.
Let's take common mental conditions one-by-one.
People with aggressive and narcissistic personalities are the easiest to
understand evolutionarily; they look out for number one. But even if 16 million
men today can trace their genes to Genghis Khan (nature's definition of
uber-success can be measured by his prolific paternity), very few potential
despots achieve such heights. Perhaps to check selfish urges, in favor of more
probable means to biological success, social lubricants such as empathy, guilt
and mild anxiety arose.
For example, the first of our ancestors to empathize and read facial expressions
had a striking advantage. They could confirm their own social status and
convince others to share food and shelter. But too much emotional acuity — when
individuals overanalyze every grimace — can cause a motivational nervousness
about one's social value to morph into a relentless handicapping anxiety.
Pondering the future
Another cognitive innovation made it possible to compare potential futures.
While other animals focus on the present, only humans, said Geary, "sit and
worry about what will happen three years from now if I do that or this." Our
ability to think things over, and over, can be counterproductive and lead to
obsessive tendencies.
Certain types of depression, however, Geary continued, may be advantageous. The
lethargy and disrupted mental state can help us disengage from unattainable
goals — whether it is an unrequited love or an exalted social position.
Evolution likely favored individuals who pause and reassess ambitions, instead
of wasting energy being blindly optimistic.
Natural selection also likely held the door open for disorders such as attention
deficit. Quickly abandoning a low stimulus situation was more helpful for male
hunters than female gatherers, writes Nesse, which may explain why boys are five
times more likely than girls to be hyperactive.
Similarly, in its mildest form, bipolar disorder can increase productivity and
creativity. Bipolar individuals (and their relatives) also often have more sex
than average people, Geary noted.
Sex, and survival of one's kids, is the whole point — as far as nature is
concerned. Sometimes unpleasant mental states lead to greater reproductive
success, said Geary, "so these genes stay in the gene pool."
Appreciate it. Very interesting too.
But this doesn't explain why someone like me, who feels and believes
people have great potential to do great things, who feels and believes
we don't need to kill each other over "gods",
OK, I understand that we have complicated life and our brains can't
handle things. But that doesn't mean we are too insane to say "You
know what? I think we need to stop blowing each other up".
I may be insane, but I've got enough rational cells left to understand
this. I could easily rape, murder, and act out my anger, but I don't.
There's just no need. I have better things to do.
So why doesn't the rest of the world "get it" ?
Or maybe I *am* insane, and I should be murdering, raping, etc. Seems
like I'm in the minority.
Every person, including the insane, murderer, or rapist, is " in the
minority" Each feels just as speciall as do you!.
What is the picture and what would constitute having seen it?
I was introduced by a genius to the internet in the early 90's. The
first description he gave me was that this was the road of 'true
anarchy". I have long since discovered that every idealism has a seed
of truth that can be discovered when you "get above" the 'group think'
details.
The term "spiritual" really pisses me off. Too much religious
association. Effort to expand ones state of consciousness beyond the
norm is a bit wordy. Ill have to try and come up with a suitable
archroym:-)
I was born in '50 in Northern England, where I suffered bronchitis and
asthma due to the incredibly polluted atmosphere. Regular smog, and
the Mersey (clue.. yea yea yeah) was nothing more than an open
sewer.Young ladies were 'sent away' to have their illigitimate babies,
and many died at the hands of back street abortionists. The priest
used to knock on doors (my mothers catholic experiences..Angelas Ashes
being accurate,) and use emotional blackmail to grab what little money
her ever suffering dad could provide for his 10 children, informing
them on the way out "the lord will provide".
Now smog is a thing of the past. Just healthy fog, sea trout have
been seen migrating up the river, and some of the priests have been
seen floating down it (just kidding...they wear concrete boots, (that
the lord obviously provided :-). Lived through the nuclear threat,
suffered 'educaton by fear of corporal punishment', and was generally
being prepared as more cannon fodder as were my parents and my parents
parents parents :-) for their lord and masters.
Great background to use the freedoms we now have to 'look deeper'
withour fear (religious or otherwise).
I have two daughters in their late teens, and Im thrilled that they
are living in a society that doesnt suffer the 'imposed' circumstances
we did. That they have choices that are not dominated by trying to
escape pollution and poverty.
Sure, their are new challenges, but I know where I prefer to
be...cough cough splutter splutter, wheeze wheeze....oops, just had a
flash back ;-)
I suggest a therapy of 12 hours of continually playing "Its A
Wonderful World" by Sachmo, while contemplating on his infectious
grin.
Four phases of man. Tortured ignorance, blissful ignorance, tortured
awakening, and blissful awareness. We each can only appreciate each
stage with hindsight of the previous stage.Stage four is more
individually realized
Ive spent some time eating fruit and swimming. A nice distraction, but
temporary. We are by nature, 'growing' entities, and always seek
challenge. Knowing this takes you to 'level 4'. Always unknown steps,
always exciting 'being'.
Ohhhhh Yeeeeaaahhhhh...
Thanks for your thanks...quite rare around here :-)

Such dialouge invariably speaks of "we", which is the foundation of
all fantasy. Not only do physical viruses transmit, so in one sense,
SirF is correct.
Our immune system, both physically and mentally , has a very
significant role to play, whether accomodating a need to be 'infected'
or to fascilitate the awareness not to be.
Different stages alway include the supporting physiology.Often
demonstrated when a person decides to at least attempt to take
responsibility for their own welfare. Self discipline always being a
pre curser for stage four. Part of the freedom form 'imposed
discipline' just referred to.
BOfL
Part of the group consciousnes in the "free" world today, is
manipiulated by emphasising 'exreme minority' activities.
As horrendous as 9/11 was, there are more children dying each day from
preventable diseases than on that terrible day, but just stand back
and look which has had the most effect on the 'group think'
particularly in your country.
A combination of blissful ignorance and painful awakening (for the
inividual).

> We kill each other
No 'WE' don't.
What some do is not what all do nor, in this case, what most do.
This 'WE'- ified mentality is better applied to what most of the 'we's
actually do, not to specific horrors which are only horrors because they
are rare and not what 'we' do most.
Is this some way people are being taught in school? I know the propaganda
press is very good at pulling off this crap.
Look, what you are speaking of has specific reasons. There are things
more directly responsible for these things than this 'we'.
Two things:
Scarce resources and Over breeding
[but your supposition is quite exaggerated; to make the point I assume]
We love each other over money or silly disputes, or even for the
enjoyment of it.
We make love, give birth, and love our own children.
Yes, there are many negatives, but the above positives, and those
unmentioned, far outweigh any negatives.
We're an order.
We have so much potential for bad things, yet, it's like we prefer to
act grown up and mature.
Maybe that's because we ARE a grown up and mature species?
And after 10,000 or more years we've got the picture by now.
I believe we are far greater than animals. Even custodians.
It's like we're a well being. I know we have potential to do bad
things for ourselves, each other and the planet but it's like the
human race would rather act like individuals that are out of the house
for the night on a good day.

You are right in that there are good and bad humans.
As a species humans are violent, they cannot be trusted, they have no
honour, they do not know how to behave, they do rape and murder, they are
cruel to animals - and many other bad things - this is "as a species".
But there are certain individual "good" humans who do not do these things.
The analysis of why so called "bad" humans do these things is very long and
complex. There are hundreds of different explanations.
The violence of a mother upon a small child can result in a subconscious
mental effect on the child which later in life may cause a man to rape or
abuse women. This one small example of many millions of occurrences that
cause adult humans to be the way they are.
If you take the human child at the innocent state when the child is born -
then what causes the child to become a "bad" human?
The causes are pure and simply "other humans" and indeed "other ADULT
humans".
It is only when you experience the human existence as an outsider and if you
do know of psychiatry and how behaviour problems can and do occur - that you
can see that all bad human behaviour is CAUSED by the treatment, education
and teaching of the child during formative years by the adult humans - often
parents.
If the human child was correctly brought up - you would find the human
existence would be perfect. But most humans do not know how to bring up or
teach a child. They do not understand children. They do not know about the
mind, the subconscious or the delicate psyche of the child and what happens
as the child becomes adult with the mental damage that they are unconscious
of and that festers and grows like a dark seed in the subconscious part of
the mind.
Thus the self fulfilling prophecy that has continued for 10,000 years - does
continue - as there is no one can "teach" the human adults how to bring up
and teach the children and how delicate the human mind and psyche are and
how careful you must be not to damage.
Thus in effect - all the "bad" humans are merely showing the outcome of bad
treatment by adult humans that effected them and thus in essence, all humans
are innocent - but due to the behaviour of adult humans on the child human
and during formative years - the child is thus so psychologically damaged -
that you cannot really condemn any human for rape or murder or violence or
religious bigotism any of these things. They do these things BECAUSE they
were psychologically damaged by their treatment at the hands of other adult
humans.
It is amazing how bad adult humans are - and how very little they understand
children - if at all to be honest. And how MUCH damage the adult or older
humans cause - and thus the human adult creates the miserable crime ridden
violent society that exists today - and generation after generation the
children they damage become the future adults that in turn damage their own
children.
And as there is now less time, single parents, more violent and abusive
language and behaviour and more ways to harm the children - thus society is
worsening and degenerating further as the very fragile and delicate make up
of the mind is abused and damaged.
What is the answer?
Well we tried to tell you but no one would listen.
THE BORG
heh Yeah well I don't think of myself as 'special'.
The picture is child pornography, gangs, government, police states,
slavery, sexual exploitation, money, etc. etc.
If you were travelling through space looking for a civilization to
live and become a part of, I don't think this planet would be the
first destination.
