Thanksgiving was actually Puritans celebrating freedom from those who
mix church and state.

Actually, they were pissed that they couldn't enforce their
own version of crazy on the Church of England, so they
went somewhere they could run things. Then they
evolved into Massachussette nannygoat progressives.

Pilgrims. There was a minor difference. The Massachusetts Bay Colony was a
theocracy until 1691. Church membership was required for voting. The same
was the case for the Plymouth Colony (Pilgrims). Quakers need not apply.

Do a little research on the 'City on the Hill' phrase used by Winthrop.
